And this is Nick. And welcome to Nowhere, California. It's 2017. Wrap up.

Welcome to 2018. What's happening? A lot of stuff. A lot of stuff's going on.

So this is our end of the year beginning of the year wrap up. For us? Yeah. We're going to talk about some of our top five pop culture moments of last year.

Right. And our top five movies of last year. We have to do it at the beginning of the new year because we kind of make sure we see everything we can. True.

And for us, we're a little lackadaisical when it comes to getting out there and seeing out movies and getting back to you. Hey, remember that fucking movie with the chick in it? There was really hot at the superhero one Wonder Woman? Yeah.

I saw that just about a month ago. So whoops. But yeah. So that's No Where California's time we wrap up of 2017.

Brought to you early in 2018. Yeah. And unfortunately, I started out this year. There's no real way to jump into this topic.

I'm just going to go at it like this. I talked about it before with my friend Tom that passed away in 2001. That he was always the one person I'm always going to regret not being able to get on No Where California. Unfortunately, I have to add another name to the list.

Oh, yeah. This past week, unfortunately, I learned the news of the passing of Michael Egan, Egan, Mr. Egan. I'll be going through all the names.

He was my high school journalism teacher. And I put it this way online. I'll say it here. You see those movies with the teacher that changes to everybody's life.

And mold you into that person that you become a dead-poached side of you. And you're like, yeah, it's only fucking movies. Yeah. And that shit's only in movies and everything.

This dude was the personification of that archetype. Egan was the teacher I had at probably the best possible time in my life because it was like the crossroads of your life. Yeah. Exactly.

Yeah. You know, some people struggle throughout junior high school and trying to figure out who they are. Most people don't really know who they are. But you're starting to get an idea of the person that you want to be and the person that you want to become and things like that.

You may not have the right tools to get you there just yet. And that's where some of these people come along in our lives. And I am internally in debt to Egan because I don't know if I told you this before. But I'm going to go and tell this story again.

When I was leaving middle school, we did our usual, like, OK, what close do you want to take and stuff? I signed up for Art, my freshman year. Look miserably. I did too because I hated our fucking art teacher.

I had to teach her. She was a four. But I learned I have no artistic talent when it comes to drawing. Everything I know.

I was like, I'll do some doodles. And it'll be awesome. But also too, my freshman year, they put me in the beginning journalism. Now see, that would have been I should have done that.

I never signed up for that class. And the teacher of that class was Egan. Nice. And within the first 10 minutes of that class, I'm like, I mean, this guy is this guy's going to be the teacher.

And I'm like, look out, man. My freshman, I think it was no freshman sophomore year of high school. I got a teacher named Bonner, who made it a bit. Tell us his name wasn't Bonner.

You're lighting up the ammo there. I know. I'm like, why did you go into teaching, son? I mean, he could have touched my life, and I'd never cop to it.

His name is Bonner. But anyway, go ahead. From that point on, I stuck with journalism. He taught me everything.

He taught me about questioning stuff. How to attack a story, attack life. How to just go out life and everything. How to look at politics and everything.

He's the main reason I'm a member of the Green Party. OK. And it was funny. I remember correctly.

I'm really hoping wrong on this. The last time I talked to him was on the phone. And it was during an electric period. OK.

And there was a school board member that the teacher kind of wanted to hell out. OK. So they were making calls and everything. I get this call.

Didn't really recognize voice at first. And the voice was like, yeah, listen here. As a Green Party member, you know you're on a tourist watch list now, right? And I'm like, huh?

And he went on for a little bit more. And then he revealed, hey, it's eager. I'm like, oh fuck. That's awesome.

Yeah. And that was the sense of being right. So let me ask you to feel like it was the last time you spoke on the phone was where it was on the phone. You know what?

It's OK. Because you know, at least it was a fun conversation. Exactly. You know, you had to have fond memory of the final conversation with him.

Yeah. And also, too, after I even graduated from high school, I was at a bunch of times. Because I wanted to hang out with Ian. And he was full with it.

I was full with it, too. So there was multiple times, even before I went on my mission to work church, air quotes, on an audio podcast. Yeah, I attempted to mission. So you have to clarify that.

Because if you say mission and you're like a radical Muslim. Mormon. OK. OK.

That's an entirely different story. A radicalized Mormon drinks cook. That's maybe my favorite thing I've heard all day. That's pretty good.

But I pop in there. I was often talked to him and everything. And then I think the last time I saw him in person was before I left for my six day trip to Utah. All right.

And return. To motherland. Yeah. Yeah.

It was just strange. And then, honestly, past couple days, I learned about his passing on Friday. And ever since then, I was just playing stuff in my mind over and over and over, just like different things. And just realizing more and more like, oh, fuck this new impact in my life.

And a lot of people. And a lot of people. Because right after you said something, we noticed on the Victor Valley News Group, that it was all over the place. Yeah.

Well, that you passed. And there hasn't been really any information about what happened. Well, we know it was a car accident. We know he was Andrew assisting from a car accident.

And the best way I went to sum it up until we find out information. But even with information, I'm going to paraphrase the leak after that one after. Corey Monty. Corey Monty passed.

And it was Chris Koffer that said this. And I'm going to probably butcher it. It doesn't matter the details of how it happened. The sad and unfortunate truth that matter is he's gone.

Yeah. And that's absolutely true. That's right. But back to what we were talking about too, within like a day or two of the news really spread.

Yeah. I started getting hit with messages from people since they knew I'm still out here in the high desert. Right. And I was really close with him.

So they were wondering if I knew any information or anything. Unfortunately not. But I got the ball rolling on certain things too, where I contacted the principal of sultana. And I told him, hey, there's some former students I would love to be able to send a message out to his wife, Miss Egan, who is another teacher at the school too.

Oh, OK. Same school. Yeah. And he's like, oh, that'd be awesome.

Yeah. Go ahead and just tell him to send to the school. Yeah, Kara. And her name, Kara of sultana high school.

I'm like, sure. Bonnie. And everything. And it's kind of got the ball rolling there.

It's kind of the same way I react to a lot of that. It's like, I'm just going to keep myself busy. Yeah. I mean, and that's a lot of people do that.

You want to, you know, because if you keep yourself occupied, then you don't have to sit and face yourself. Yeah, because I'll honestly admit I was crushed. When I heard the news that hit me like a ton of bricks. And like I was saying, though, within the past couple days, I'm just piecing everything together.

And I don't see part of my life where I'm not going to have his teachings in my mind. See, but that's a wonderful thing to take with you. I mean, as difficult as it is that he is gone now. You have an amazing gift that you've been the episode upon you.

Right. And you have that, you know, you have his knowledge and his outlook and things imparted upon you. And it's stuff that you take with you every day of your life. And that is truly the best way to honor someone's memory is by taking a portion of what they've taught you, you know, whether you use it in your everyday life or not, but finding a way you lies it somewhere in some aspect of your life.

Exactly. And the best way to kind of sum it up, like I told a couple of people this, I'm lucky enough to know that he's may need the better person on this because I continue to try to be that type of person he would want me to be. Right. And I still strive to improve myself and everything.

And I'm so lucky that I never knew the type of person I would have became without him in my life. Right. Here's something else you need to put into perspective with this as well. Understand that by taking him as seriously as you did, and by utilizing the things that he's taught you, you fulfill his mission as a teacher.

And that's one of the, I mean, that is, that's truly, I mean, first of all, you helped achieve what he set out to do as a teacher, which, I mean, when people go into teaching, hopefully, and this is what I, you know, kind of think I'm sure they probably like the vacation times. But, you know, they, they sent out to impart wisdom and to impart knowledge onto students and hopefully touch people's lives. And if, you know, I've heard this more than one time from, from teachers and from nurses and from firemen and policemen and everything like that. If I could help one person or if I could touch one life, then I feel like I've done my job.

And it sounds like he touched way more lives than just yours, but it's a, it's a true testament to the kind of person that he, he is and that he was and the memory of him that he imparted so much on your life and that he was able to teach you and he was your teacher. And, and so that in and of itself is serving his memory, you know, to the best of your ability right there without even trying, without ever trying. You know, that's, that's exactly what he set out to do as a teacher. So, you know, this is, this is something you should, you know, you should take with you, you know, knowing that, hey, you helped fulfill that aspect of his life.

So as much as he taught you, you know, you helped, you know, you helped to teach him and guide him along as well. So. Okay, that, that's okay. So you want to say a couple random big balls, shits and pisses, Doug?

Again, we do it too. So, yeah. Oh, yeah, he'll be sitting in on all the greats and doing his own stuff too. He's the one that kind of exposed me to Carlin too.

Oh, well, then the dude's a hero as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, but as we alluded to in our rambling opening before we started talking about Mr. Ian. Yeah, we, we're going to take a look back at 2017.

Yeah, we're going to do our, our, our, our top five pop culture moments of 2017 and our top five films that we saw, not the top five films that we're in theaters because we don't know that much. We had too much integrity to do that bullshit. Yeah, that's, that's kind of fucking silly. We'll leave that shit up to rotten tomatoes than everybody else to do.

But, honestly, 2018, we're going to be going after rotten tomatoes because there's something up with that bullshit. You know, like I'm not going to, I'm not going to poke the bear on that one. I don't think it's just, you know, because the bear in the ass on that one. All righty.

And they know owns rotten tomatoes. True, but you have to understand that there's, there's aspects of rotten tomatoes that piss me off to no end. But then you also have to understand that a lot of rotten tomatoes is because of the consumer and what they say. The problem is is they're already negatively or positively charged depending on who's cast on a film.

Who's this, I mean, to me, I find it weird that you have ratings before the movies release. Yeah, that's bullshit. You know, and I'm like, no, no, I don't give you shit about that. Look, to me, it's from me being the resident old fart here.

It's the same thing as growing up with Gene Siskol. They saw the movies. Siskol and Ebert. Well, Brandon, they would show you parts and stuff like that.

But they're also very highly trained film critics. Exactly, and that's what the world is. I didn't fucking care. I just, you know, like I don't give a shit.

I'm going to watch Goonies because I fucking love Goonies. And I'm going to watch Buckroobons Eye Across the Night Dimension, you know, like that's just. They're showing you the video of Siskol and Ebert playing the activator. No.

I got to show you later. It's awesome. By the way, I think it's on Hulu or Netflix right now. If you get a chance, watch Buck Ruben's Eye across the night.

The mention. I hope it's on Amazon because I don't have a loop. Peer Peter Weller, I believe, is the vat reactor. And that was after the whole catch Smith.

Right. Eyes and lows of getting the high high high high. I learned a lot about Buck Ruben's Eye. Right.

And so I pay attention to the universe. They throw you little messages. Kevin Smith said something about it. I remember watching it when I was little.

I remember him driving the jet power truck towards the mountain. He turns off, veers off, and heads off. And goes through another mention crossover. That starts some shit with some aliens and stuff like that.

But Kevin Smith talked about how he was going to do it in an episodic kind of way. And who knows who knows? Maybe it'll get revived. Well, he did the right thing when they were sprinting over the creators.

Yeah. He said, no, I'm not doing that. Right. So maybe we'll see something where people get the proper credit.

Exactly. He'll be like, on it. Exactly. So but then I was reading Ready Player One.

And he mentions it in there when he's building the car. Yeah. When he's building the car, and he puts together the DeLorean with the Inoperative Flex Capacitor, of course. But then he puts on the car.

He mounts the front light from Night Rider Kit. And it also has the AI in there of Kit. But then it also has the interdimensional device from Buckery Bonsai. And I was like, ah, so yeah, you have to kind of.

I was just like, oh, fuck it on TV. I got what you said. Yeah, definitely. But back to the pop culture moments.

Yes. I got a confession to make. OK. I have honorable mentions.

Oh, all right. That's fair. OK. Cool.

I didn't get a due cheater. No, no, no. That's fair. Do you have any honorable mentions that make in the mind?

A couple. A couple. Far away. I'll fire mine off for you.

Sure. Unfortunately, I just read it right in there because I'm like, my first day to acknowledge that he is hosting the gong show, which I'm like, ah, come on. Yeah. Well, you know, I'm like, with the first season.

It's fucking rough having to stay in an entirely different person in this day and age. You know, if it was just still the print, radio, and television age and age. Not the world we live in. Exactly.

The current stream, you know, the instant streaming media. Which, by the way, the wine's being slapped around. So beautiful video. Just watch that.

That's that. It's coming. We're going to talk about it. But it's difficult to maintain that kind of, you know, like Sasha Baron Cohen doing Borat and Oleg or anything like that, where it's difficult to fucking keep that.

He said he can't do any of those movies anymore. Right. Where it's a character drivenly. Yeah, because too many people know who he is.

Well, you try to do it with Dictair. Yeah. And it just blows up in his face. Right.

You know, and that's OK, because the shit that came before was amazing. Yeah. You know, never forget. Keep an anti-cuffins lazy all that.

Yes. You know, never forget him and Madonna. You know, there's Oleg Jima. There's, yeah.

So, you know, Kudos to Mike Myers for keeping it as long as he did. But yeah, when they first announced that, I was like, I'm kind of intrigued. Oh, yeah. I mean, you're still freaking intrigued.

You know, this weird British guy that we didn't know about, you know, this is what we had. He had his own Twitter out. Yeah. And everything.

Yeah. So I mean, they really went all in on it. And then my other honorable mention is the BBC interview where the guy is at home and the two kids. Oh, come busting in the door.

Yeah. That's the guy that the wife was running in. And then he's like, he looks so fucking panicked. He's like, it was phenomenal.

Dude, that was one. I completely forgot that one. Yeah, I totally forgot that one too. OK, what's up with your honorable mentions?

One of them is going to be 13 reasons why. That was a hard one. I got to tell you. OK.

It's another episodic. It's I want to say it's eight episodes. I believe it's eight episodes. Seven or eight episodes.

And they usually cover a couple of people in there. And it's the journey of this girl who commits suicide. And she leaves a tape with 13 reasons why she committed suicide. And each tape highlights somebody else.

And kind of goes through the journey of this boy who was really in love with her. And her best friend and things like that. And just he's crushing. He's going slowly tiptor tape.

You know, to kind of what happened. And he's listed in there. And so when you get to the end of it, it kind of sets up for a season two, not with her, but with ramifications of what's going to happen also. I got to tell you, as much as I loved the show, I think they could have cut it down to about five episodes.

Because when did you start getting kind of drunk after a while? It was still profoundly. That's what you heard about it. There was a lot of stuff that I think a lot of people, even like some mental health professionals, you should have done it a little differently.

Just trimmed it down a little bit, I think, is what they should have done. But it did. I was worried that it would glorify suicide. But they made it a point to say that it was absolutely terrible.

And if you feel helpless, they highlighted the suicide hotline. And let's say 2017 was filled with so much suicide. And so it was a very good show. And the young lady, and forgive me, I didn't look her name up right off the map.

The young lady who was involved in it. Thanks, Lady Gomez. No, it's not. No, but she was fantastic.

Oh, that's interesting. Yeah, the actress. I think, I think, as Lady Gomez or Demi Lovato would produce it, if I remember. Probably, probably.

Because we researched it. I know, we researched it. I'm just basically going off of what I saw. And I loved it.

I'm going to tell you right now, it has the absolute most real suicide scene in it, other than putting a gun in your mouth and things like that. How they always talk about up the road, not across the person. They very graphically show that. And then the parents discovering her.

And it's the mother's reaction, as a parent, as a parent. The mother's reaction is one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen. It's not the screaming. Look, it's been long enough.

I'm going to just come with another. It's not the screaming. She doesn't do any of that stuff. She walks in, and her bathtub's overflowing.

Blood everywhere in the tub. She's unconscious at this point. And the mom's like, it's OK. It's OK.

We can fix this. We can fix this. She's clearly passed at this point. But the mom is doing everything.

It's not real. It's not real to her. She's like, we can fix this. She still sitting there.

And then the dad comes in. He's like, oh my god. Oh my god. I have to.

He's wanting to help. And she's like, don't touch her. And it's this very real moment. And it was something that just took.

Well, it reminds me. My heart away. And it was just devastating. Well, you can never understand what's going on unless if you're in a person.

Exactly. I'll tell you right now when I found out that my brother David had passed away with car accident. It didn't hit me 100% until I showed up about 10 to 20 minutes before everybody else did at the memorial. And I had a solid five minutes alone knowing he was on the other side of the wood of the Casque.

And it was this moment of no, no, no, no, no. He's going to get me caught. Like this is going to be funny. He's going to call me.

And then when I was faced with a casket, then it was just like, what the hell, man? All my anger came forward to. Like, why didn't you look the other direction before you pulled out? And then it was just, I can't fucking tell you this to your face now.

And it was real at that point. And so yeah, people go to different things. Some people just fucking lose it right there. Other people are just, no.

And all you can do is just be there. But the big fear with 13 reasons was that everybody was going to go. And it was like, this is your tape. That's what the whole thing is.

No, I mean, it became a mean. This is your tape. It would say it before shooting everyone over tape. Say, it's so and so.

Hey, this is your tape. So the people, and they were really worried it was going to glorify her McLight of TV. I remember when the series really first started. That was the big story.

It wasn't around where people were just like, this is going to glorify this. Right. And that's, I mean, I was kind of expecting the same thing. Like, well, like fucking team mom.

When team mom hit, I immediately was like, fuck. Now you're going to have a whole shitload of girls getting pregnant because, hey, MTV's going to put them on TV. Because MTV can't put off on music anymore. So I mean, look, they said that the subject is such a nice one.

It is. But it's, it's, look, it just, I don't want to be the insensitive dick. But it just, 13 reasons why I could have been shorting down into like five episodes and not have to, you know, like, by the time we got to it, I was like, oh, I don't care anymore. Oh, I don't care why it's this kid's fault.

Fuck me. Man up. I mean, man up. Man up.

Man up. And listen to the tape already. Listen to why, find out why the fuck Hannah is mad at you and why you had some play in all of this. But yeah, I don't know.

OK, I kind of think you were going that way with your ending because like, I was looking at this going like, I'm not following up something that's pointing at 13 reasons why with what my number five is. Oh, I can't wait. What is your number five? Since you ended it up, I don't have this doing type swapping.

There you go. If I was to swap, it would just be like, this is actually number four, but I'm keeping number five for after that because, OK, there's my number five. But now here's my number five. Kimville, gender's dumb ass Pepsi commercial.

OK, you and I are tied on this one because I was like, what the fuck happened here? Oh, yeah. I was, I forgot to happen this last year. Pepsi just.

And I? It was this weird global protest sort of thing and with the police brutality and everything. What the fuck? Everybody's screaming and yelling at the fucking crowd.

And she comes out, like she walks out all monolaskin shit. She's sitting in some salon or boutique or fucking restaurant or whatever the hell it is and comes wandering out and then hands the police officer fucking Pepsi. I think it was probably a Babylonist. You know who joined that commercial the most?

Coke. Fucking Coke. Yeah, because it was a nightmare. They pulled it so fast.

Oh my god, never even made it. I don't think it ever made it to TV. And then also to a great comment. Kevin said, like, what have been hilarious if you went out to that protest and realized, oh, this is against Kardashians.

Yeah, oh, yeah, we got fucking shot trying to hand him a Pepsi. You know, it was a hot shot just like maybe club in the stomach. Inhye, motherfucker, shoot. Like right between the eyes, right between the fucking eyes.

Because now she's pregnant, right? I believe so. Yeah. See what happens?

They fucking breed. They fucking breed. And destroy the men that are in their lives. Oh, god.

But yeah, so she wanders out hands with fucking copa Pepsi. And I tell you what, the Black Lives Matter people lost their fucking mind. Everybody did. Well, because that's what it was.

I mean, it was really making light of that. Yeah, it was making all the like, I was resisting. I know they didn't intend to, but it was just like, are you fucking kidding me? Oh, whoever, whoever was in that brain session?

Right. I was just like, do you want to know the most justified thing? OK, so go ahead. I hope you like I got fired and beaten and fucking done.

Or he's working in the bathroom at the Pepsi headquarters. So do you mind if I lead off with the number four? Yeah, you're going with your number four. OK, because your bit was the same.

Oh, yeah, absolutely the same. OK, so my fourth was and it was directly related to this. Yeah. Was Slayers killed a Kardashian shirt after seeing fucking Kendall Jenner wearing a slayer t-shirt.

Would you believe that's my number four? Shut the fuck up. OK, I think you're going to like my number four. It was one of my favorite things to see.

I felt bad kind of thrown that in his number four. Because it's not really popular. No, that's not a popular. It's kind of tight.

I mean, it is, but it's pop culture. In the wave of shit that happened this last year. Just wait until you see the rest of mine. It was just one of those things that I had to fucking chuck at.

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I don't blame you on that one. So anyway, I'll go ahead with your number four.

My number four is the Babadook becoming a gay icon. OK, yeah. What the fuck? It was a glitch on Netflix that threw Babadook into a gay L.B.G.T category.

And the community just picked it up and ran with it. And made the Babadook a gay icon. And there's a little ellipses on this one too. Because the community decided to wear just everybody to say, like, this is awesome.

Let's roll with this. Babadook got a lover. Oh, god, really? Yeah.

Came. The information was released about the same time as it's release. Oh, that's right. Anyways, in Babadook or in a relationship.

That's right. So I do remember this. I knew as I was making compilence list, I was like, OK, I started out with Kardashians. I got to go to something freaking fun and like for the fourth one on my list.

Absolutely. So the Babadook becoming a gay icon and getting into a nice little relationship with anyways. Yeah. Yes.

I almost forgot that happened at last year's Oscars. That was just some dumbass that was not paying attention because he wanted to take pictures of people. So that I incorporated that into a spam lot. Oh, yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Our influence is like we find a holy grail in the, you know, for those of you, I'm saying the holy grail is found and it's under the seat of a audience member. Yeah.

So it was such an amazing. We bring him up on stage and King Arthur says, you know, Patsy, the envelope, please. And so I say the, you know, the word for best audience member goes to and there's a big drum roll and I go la la la la. We were, no, I'm sorry.

That's not right. It's, you know, and then I say the guy's name and everybody died. They fell out laughing. So amazing.

And, you know, like I told my director before him and luckily he trusts me really well. I didn't tell him exactly what I was doing, but I said, look, it's going to be very tasteful and I promise it's going to be funny. You know, just roll with it. And I heard his fucking cackle in the, in the crowd.

That's awesome. Yeah. And so he was like, you have to keep that every night now. You know, it's like, why did we think of this?

And I was just really, I was really blessed to work with a really talented group of people. And, you know, who trusted me and had great reactions to the whole thing and we're just fantastic. And so luckily you were working with some great people. Unfortunately, people backstage at the Oscars.

It was terrible because it was revealed like a couple of days later that this guy, the, the basically the way that stage was set up, which was dumb too. Yeah, there's two people on each side with the same envelopes. Right. So there was no confusion.

There was no, it was supposed to be seamless and who got what on below. Yeah. And then as soon as that kind of like whatever side they came out from the other side of the other side. Well, you know, shooting a mixtape face wasn't paying attention.

Oh, I got a picture with Emma Stone. Yeah. And so he, he fucking didn't discard his and handed it to Fade Donaway, right? Yeah, Fade Donaway.

Fade Donaway had it. And it was, okay, so, so our bonding client, Fade Donaway and Warren Beatty, they're on stage. Yeah. They're not going to get shot in the tail of.

Like it was, well, I mean, because she looked at her, wait, I mean, he looked at it first and he was confused as shit. I still believe he looked at her and he looked at her and had it, but he wanted her to go. Yeah, take a look at it. Go, am I seeing this correctly?

Right. And because you could clearly see the wave of confusion over his face. Yeah. But neither one of them tried to save the moment either because he, leaned over to her to kind of get her reassurance on it.

And she thought, yeah, as many male presenters will do, if they're co-presenting with a female, you know, presenter, they will lean over and let the lady read the envelope. Just chivalry thing, I guess. I'm like, hold the door or whatever. I'm sure there's some women in the group going fucking crazy at me saying this right now.

You can't like to listen to us, but still. Thank you. Thank you very much. And shut the fuck up.

So, because I have a dick. So he leans over and Fade Donaway goes, la la la land. And they fucking lose their shit and come up and they get their, you know, for best picture and it's, oh, my lord. And it's rolling for a moment and then all of a sudden you see a producer run on stage.

Right. And they're talking to stuff like that. And then what happens is the director of la la land is not going to go, we didn't want, we didn't want. Yeah.

And yeah. And yeah. And he might get up here. Moonlight immediately, he's like, it was moonlight one.

This is in a joke. Not a joke. It was misreading. And people were like, wait, what?

And I felt bad because moonlight was such a cultural, culturally great film, you know, and it meant such an impact and it felt like it lost some of its, you know, some of its laughter. That's my thought afterwards. But also too, then I thought about it. Like, you know how many people were probably going to go see that movie now?

Right. Oh, this was the, this is the movie that fucking yanked around. Exactly. Yeah.

But yeah, you're 100% right. That was one of the best moments. Oh yeah. You're number three.

My number three, and it's, I had a little, little bit of, you know, where did I, where did I want to go exactly with this? And I think I'm going to go this way because I think there's a couple others that were very culturally important. Number three for me was the death of Chris Cornell and Chester, you know, Bennington. Let me say something real quick.

Sure. Entertain weekly can go fuck themselves. Boy, what happened? They didn't mention Chester in their memoriam portion of the year in issue.

Are you serious? Yeah. I have it over there too. I got a fucking look at it.

I didn't even know. Chester's not. I know Cornell's in there. I saw that right off the bat.

But Chester's not in there. What a bunch of shit. Yeah. And I almost guarantee they are eating piles of it.

Oh, I hope so man. I hope so. But especially because, especially because Chester's death was like almost, I mean, it's, it's very possible that it had a lot to do with Chris Cornell's death. Oh yeah.

Well, you're best friends and like. I mean, I was in the end of the year. It was on his birthday. Chris Cornell's birthday.

Chris Cornell's birthday. Yeah. And, you know, it was, first of all, there was a lot of speculation as to whether or not Chris Cornell's flat out killed himself from the reports that I have heard. So, you know, look, you know, Cornell's suicide, we're not even 100% sure if it was suicide.

Yes, we know. I'm an O. Yes. Well, I mean, well, they think it was, you know, his suicide was.

Oh, actually, like it was a chemical reaction with the meds he was. Well, the meds that he had been taking. There's big speculation that he had possibly taken a double dose. Yeah.

And one of the, oddly the fuck enough, one of the, and I know this because I, you know, I live, you know, I live with people who have depression. Well, it's not a fucking secret. My wife, you know, battles with depression and anxiety and things like that. Postpartum and stuff like that.

Doug, one of our family members, one of our, you know. And that's the main reason I don't, like I'm going through my therapy and everything, but that's the main reason I try to avoid meds. A lot of people do because it's so, it's so delicate. And one of the side effects to a lot of these medications is it may increase suicidal thoughts.

Yeah. And if you're already a suicidal person, why the fuck, you know, like it's, I get it, I get it, but I don't, I get it, but I don't because I don't experience it myself. And that's, that's, you know, that's really the, the bane of being the person who's on the outside of that, you know, yes, they're trapped within themselves and it's horrible. But when you want to help somebody and you can't, you know, and it's just like, just be there.

So it's, it's difficult to think that, you know, Chris was just on the phone with his wife. Yeah. And she was the one who called the bandmates and went like, well, you know, this, go fucking kick the door down right now. You know, like, if I then it was too late.

Yeah. And I, you know, Chris had hit me pretty hard because he was, he wasn't remains probably my favorite singer from the 90s and just a talented and amazing artist. And I really, for those of you listening, listen to his rendition of Billie Jean. It's a bluesy version of it and it's done live.

Listen to his cover of Princess on for a tornado connor. Nothing compares to you. Well, even just like that last concert, the last concert that night is still on YouTube. Yeah.

And I was lucky enough to see him just a few months prior with Temple of the Dog when they, they're there, small little, I think it was like seven or eight shows. Yeah, like a little reunion or I think it was their 20th anniversary or whatever it was. But I was able to see Cornell live, you know, and it was, he's fucking magical. He was fucking magical.

And so it's rough in a world where we don't have Bowie, where we don't have Prince, where we don't have Freddie Mercury anymore. You know, I know that the park is actually like 1990, but still, you know, like all that stuff. There's so many like voices that are gone that we need. Tom Petty, another one.

Another one, another one we lost this last year, you know, there's so many blows to music. I just think about all the songs that will be covered of Cornell's and all the songs, you know, the Chester saying, you know, and I'm sure, I'm sure Lincoln Park's going to want to try to. I think they've announced that they're not. Hopefully I don't know that aspect of it myself and so far.

I can be talking about my ass. I don't know. Maybe moving on to a different name. Maybe, you know, I know that they all.

It's so freaking hard. Yeah, I mean, really he was, God damn it. He was, he was fun to listen to. Yeah.

You know, could just, fuck when I left my first wife, I played in the end because after all the shit that happened, everything we did, it never really mattered, you know, and it was, like I screamed and I saw it and I did everything I could to try to draw attention to things and it just didn't matter. And, you know, it was just a bullet point to things. And so, I mean, it was the soundtrack, it was part of the soundtrack of my life, you know, in a lot of people's lives. And it was just a terrible fucking, terrible fucking year, you know, to lose Cornell and to lose Chester.

In the way that happened. Yeah, in the way that it happened, you know, and again, it was, you know, if you're feeling depressed, fucking, there are people out there that are willing to talk to you and willing to listen and, you know. It's like we said before. You do mean something.

You know, everybody would be kind of like and just shout into the void. Yeah. We still do it. Anything, you know, anything that you can do to find help do it, you know.

So that was my number three. Okay, go ahead with your number two. My number two was a women's march. That is actually my number two also.
