Episode 12: #FilmTwitter Trends: Director Edition with Cole Echevarria & Craig Pedroza

On the twelfth episode of All the Film Things, I am joined by my friends photojournalist Cole Echevarria and director Craig Pedroza to talk about a #FilmTwitter trend where we each name our favorite film from a list of highly acclaimed directors. The directors listed were: Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, and James Cameron. This episode contains a few spoilers. This episode is the first of a new recurring segment- type episode on ATFT called #FilmTwitter Trends. As a film aficionado, I thoroughly enjoy #FilmTwitter. I often tweet my responses to the latest brilliant trend going around. Each trend is a fun, challenging topic to answer which makes for a great discussion with fellow film aficionados. This episode was not originally on the January schedule for ATFT. Due to a last minute cancellation, I took this episode out of the vault of episodes recorded on Relevnt. This episode was recorded back in April 2022 (before Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, and The Killer were released) so the audio quality is, unfortunately, not as good as previous episodes. Hopefully, listeners will enjoy the conversation and will not be bothered by the more- poor quality. As recurring listeners may know, Cole is back for his fourth appearance on the "wide release" of ATFT. Craig has appeared on three episodes of ATFT but this is his first appearance on this "wide release"! This will not be the last time listeners will hear from Craig as he is scheduled to join the upcoming Oscar predictions episode alongside Cole! In this episode, Cole, Craig, and I discuss our favorite films from each of the directors previously listed as well as a few more we added. The few tangents include Craig discussing his opinion on why more recent films are more beneficial to watch than older films and trying to solve the name of the actor who starred in both Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket and Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises (apologies to Matthew Modine). Cole and Craig share funny yet fearful stories relating to Jaws while I, a horror film scaredy- cat, remember how I came to enjoy The Shining.
