Your Nightly Prayer 🙏🏾 Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” EXODUS 20:12 DEVOTION Based on Exodus 20 This commandment reminds us that honoring our parents is not just a moral duty but a divine principle that brings blessings. Honoring them means showing respect, gratitude, and care—whether through obedience in our youth or support and love in their later years. God designed family as a foundation for society, and when we uphold this commandment, we reflect His order and wisdom. Honoring parents is not always easy, especially in strained relationships, but God calls us to love and respect them regardless. Take a moment tonight to reflect on how you honor your parents. Breathe out resentment, and breathe in gratitude for their role in your life. Ask God to help you show love and respect in a way that pleases Him. A.C.T.S. REFLECTION ADORATION: Praise God for the gift of family and His wisdom in establishing the role of parents. Celebrate His design that teaches love, respect, and care in relationships. CONFESSION: Reflect on times when you’ve failed to honor your parents—through words, actions, or neglect. Confess these moments to God and ask for a heart that reflects His love. THANKSGIVING: Thank God for the influence and sacrifices of your parents or parental figures. Express gratitude for the lessons they’ve taught and the ways they’ve shaped your life. SUPPLICATION: Father, help me to honor my parents with love, respect, and gratitude. Give me patience and wisdom in my interactions with them. Heal any broken relationships and teach me to reflect Your love in how I treat them. Let my actions bring glory to You. You hold parents in great honor because You’ve also given them great responsibility. Raising children is not for the faint of heart, nor should it be taken lightly. Give me a greater reverence for my own parents and parenting figures in my life, and fill me with a sense of awe that I am able to have such a privilege.
