Episode 125-Scott Caulfield, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Coaching Education Manager NSCA Head Quarters-Pushing The Profession Forward.

from CVASPS The Podcast · host Central VA Sport Performance

“the engagement with our strength and conditioning coaches from high school through professional is growing right now, it’s the best I’ve seen it in my seven years here at the NSCA. It’s come from a commitment that the NSCA said ‘yeah we realize that we need to do better for the strength and conditioning coaches and we are going to do that.’” Today I am joined by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Coaching Education Manager NSCA Head Quarters, Scott Caulfield to discuss projects that are being put together to help better educate our coaches. Scott starts out sharing with us the background to their latest offering, Foundations of Coaching Lifts Course, which is about to go live. This course fills a major void that many have said about the CSCS exam, and that is the hands on coaching evaluation. We then start discussing many the challenges of building courses and events, and the reasoning behind the directions they are moving. The amount of work that goes into these courses and events is staggering, and something the work and effort involved is something people need to understand. Scott finishes off by touching upon the different pro sports groups they’re involved with and what similarities they see across the board, and how engagement across all levels of coaching has moved to the front seat of what he’s trying to do for the profession.ENJOY THE CONTENT?
