from Psych Talk · host Dr. Jessica Rabon
In today's episode of Psych Talk, I chat with Jacquelyn Tenaglia, LMHC all about mental health misinformation on social media. Jacquelyn is the "No BS Therapist" on social media where she uses her platform to call out mental health misinformation that she sees. Jacquelyn discusses her journey on social media as a consumer as well as what inspired her to create content herself. We cover a variety of areas that commonly include misinformation including trauma, ADHD, and pop psychology. We discuss the oversimplification and black and white nature of social media posts and why they are so attractive to consumers. We discussed the increase in self-diagnosis of mental health conditions based off social media content and how that can be both helpful and harmful.
