Social media has turned our current social culture on its head. People can have parasocial relationships with absolute strangers, teens are finding it harder and harder to socialize in real life, and parents have no idea how to regulate any of it. And should parents even be regulating social media use? It's a common question that no one seems to have the answer to. There might not be any broad strokes, right-for-everyone answer to any of this. The truth is, we just don’t have definitive answers on anything yet because of how new social media is culturally. The best we can do is learn from our real-life experiences and a few scandalous books, along the way. In this week’s episode, we talk about how social media has been impacting our lives, for better or for worse. All these apps and constant connection are reshaping how we parent, how we interact as a family, and how our youths are creating culture.
