Episode 130: Let Us
from Eat This Book! Hosted by Michael Whitworth
There's a moment in great music when the long build finally breaks into the melody. All of it was for this. The writer has spent nine and a half chapters laying a foundation, and now one word turns everything: therefore. Because of all Christ has done, here is how to live. Three invitations, each beginning "let us." Draw near, with full assurance, because the curtain is torn, opened through his flesh. Hold fast the confession of hope without wavering, because he who promised is faithful. And consider one another, stirring each other toward love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as some had begun to do. The three form the great triad: faith upward, hope forward, love outward. And drifting rarely begins with a dramatic renunciation. It usually begins with simply not showing up. Faith withers in isolation. Community is where it's sustained, all the more as the Day draws near. This is a public episode.
