Episode 131 - Better Call Saul Premiere (ft. Math Teacher Movies)

from Talkin' TV

It's a moment of celebration. We put up the episode a day later, but that's ok, because we're talking about the next in a long line of delayed shows because of the pandemic. Sean of Math Teacher Movies joins Dom the Movie Nerd to discuss the premiere of the long awaited sixth and final season of "Better Call Saul," the prequel/spinoff to Vince Gilligan's critically acclaimed midlife crisis drama "Breaking Bad." After Breaking Bad wrapped its fifth and final season back in 2013, Gilligan and co-showrunner then moved onto Saul, which centered around the origins of the Saul Goodman character portrayed by Bob Odenkirk. Formerly known as Jimmy McGill, the show follows how the destabilizing relationship between Jimmy & his brother Chuck (Michael McKean) leads him down the dark road towards the life of crime. Likewise, it also serves as such for the character of Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), the elderly hitman and fixer as he ends up joining Gus Fring's (Giancarlo Esposito) criminal empire as Fring wages war with the cartel. Dom & Sean talk all about this show's history, how it got to where it is today, the gap of time between the last season and now as a result of the pandemic, whether this show is the last of its kind, and what it spells for the future of TV and the Albaquerque saga. It's all covered every week only on the #talkintvpodcast
