News broke via Billboard.com over the weekend that representatives for Metallica and Live Nation worked together prior to the 2017 North American Stadium tour to dump nearly 90,000 tickets into the secondary market, effectively acting as their own scalpers to capitalize on and research true market ticket value. What does this mean? Were the members of Metallica involved? Is this a common practice? Exactly what is the relationship between an artist's camp (band members, management, agent) and a promoter? Is this legal? What are the future ramifications? All of these questions are addressed plus a detailed breakdown and our personal opinions on the issue.
