Episode 134: True Sustenance Of Life Is To Do God’s Will
from Detox with Abi · host Abimbola Arawande
(John 4:31-35). Whilst Jesus and His disciples were travelling to Galilee, they had to pass through Samaria. They got into Sychar, a Samaritan village that bordered the field Jacob had given his son Joseph at noon. Jacob’s well was still there. And being worn out by the journey, Jesus sat down at the well while His disciples went to get food for them all. Upon the disciples’ arrival, they saw Jesus talking to a Samaritan woman. They were surprised “...The disciples pressed him, “Rabbi, eat. Aren’t you going to eat?”” John 4:31 MSG John 4:34- "Jesus said unto them, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work." “Jesus said, “The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started. As you look around right now, wouldn’t you say that in about four months it will be time to harvest? Well, I’m telling you to open your eyes and take a good look at what’s right in front of you. These Samaritan fields are ripe. It’s harvest time!” John 4:34-35 MSG A commentary from Dake’s Bible states ...The true sustenance of life is to do God's will and to accomplish what we are here for. Even in the natural realm, nothing stimulates, keeps alive, or maintains courage more than seeing success in the mission one is dedicated to bring about. What has God called you to do? There in lies your true sustenance. Father I pray for you and myself, help us to always seek after Your will, Father, because true fulfilment and satisfaction can only be derived in doing Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
