Two American Bands broke out in 1968 with a harder driving sound than most other bands of the time. Steppenwolf had commercial success when their music was featured in the movie "Easy Rider". Bubble Puppy came from Texas and they brought a harder sound than other Texas psychedelic bands and did gain a Top 20 hit with "Hot Smoke and Sassafras".
