Episode 136 - What Crazy Bills are Still in Sacramento?

from California Underground: Your Sane Insight into California Politics · host California Underground

The California Underground Podcast seeks to discuss real solutions for California problems. Whether you are a conservative, libertarian, moderate Democrat, or just a sane person, this podcast is for you.  On this episode I am joined by Cynthia and Jonathan Zacherson, the founder of Reopen California Schools, to discuss the crazy bills left making their way through the legislature. We discuss where they are at, and their likeliness of passing.  A list of the bills we discussed is below: SB866 – Minors age 12 and older minor “may consent to their medical care and treatment without the consent of a parent or guardian.” https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220SB866 SB1390 – Defines that individuals who have opinions that the State considers harmful due to disinformation or misinformation can be prosecuted. Law addresses “medicine or vaccinations, false or misleading information regarding elections, and conspiracy theories.” https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220SB1390 SB1464  – “Authorizes each sheriff to enforce all orders of the State Department of Public Health or of the local health officer (unelected officials). https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220SB1464 AB1993 – “This bill would require an employer to require each person who is an employee or independent contractor, and who is eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, to show proof to the employer, or an authorized agent thereof, that the person has been vaccinated against COVID-19.” In other words, no current COVID-19 vaccine no job. https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB1993 AB2098 – Medical Board can discipline physicians deemed misinformation regarding COVID-19. In other words, strip their license. https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB2098 SB871 – Bans students from public and private schools that have not been fully immunized against COVID-19. https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB871 Follow California Underground on Social Media Instagram: www.instagram.com/californiaunderground YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCj8SabIcF4AKqEVFsLmo1jA Substack: https://substack.com/profile/72986149-ca_underground Shop California Underground Merchandise: https://california-underground.creator-spring.com Phil is a San Diego based attorney who specializes in criminal defense and constitutional law both under the US and California Constitution.
