Episode 14: Arbitration Feat. William Anderson

from The L.A. Report · host The LA Report

Welcome back!!! Today we had the pleasure of interviewing William Anderson. Mr. Anderson is married and has two sons; after 20 years of service he retired from the U.S. Army with honors. After retirement he immediately began working in the insurance sector with AIG, American General, a nearly 500 Billion dollar company that was bailed out by the U.S. government in 2008. Over a 10 year span he was able to work his way up from agent, to trainer, to middle management. He eventually left the company due to a Racial Discrimination issue concerning a new management position. He filed suit in federal court but was forced into Arbitration. The company was found guilty, but the presiding Arbitrator violated multiple misconduct laws to avoid punishing AIG for the Racial Discrimination. The lower courts have refused to address his motion to vacate the Arbitrator for the misconduct and he has now petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court. He is awaiting their decision as to whether or not they will accept his case and he believes the outcome will affect the entire world when it comes to Arbitration and our constitutional rights.
