The Power of Encouragement is not fluff or weakness, but a weapon against despair and oxygen for the soul. Tammy, a master encourager, shares how our parents’ encouragement shaped our lives. Authenticity over perfection is important when encouraging and speaking life over someone, something Tammy witnessed as an interior pastor in Stilwell, Oklahoma. Immediate feedback when encouraging someone can be startling, but there is an accountability to encourage and help people see their own identity, as it builds them Affirmation is important because it shapes our identity, behavior, and how we see ourselves. In a culture of criticism and comparison, verbal affirmations are powerful and can transform us. Affirmation should involve speaking to the good and not just the bad, and it impacts people on various levels. It is important to affirm effort and the process, not just the outcome, for growth and development. Affirmation is a powerful tool that can motivate and encourage others. There are four types of affirmation: effort-based, character-based, growth-oriented, and situational. Effort-based affirmations are about acknowledging someone’s hard work and perseverance, and encourage them to continue. Character-based affirmations focus on who someone is, and reinforce their positive traits and qualities. Growth-oriented affirmations help others to see how far they have come and push them to keep moving forward. Situational affirmations In this episode, Michael and Tammy discuss the power of affirmations in leadership. Affirmations are a way to provide genuine encouragement and support to others, which can inspire them to continue growing and contributing in their roles. Affirmations can be used in different contexts, such as during a challenging decision or conflict, after the event has passed, or in future-focused discussions. It’s important to be specific when giving affirmations to make them feel genuine and avoid being vague.: Coming Up :Encouragement is powerful in leadership because it turns employees into believers and creates allies out of strangers. It reminds people that they are not alone and that they are not done yet. Don’t wait to be a source of encouragement for someone, as it can make all the difference.
