Founded in 1954 by Walter Nord and his two sons (and thus the name Nordson!), this publicly traded, $2.6 billion company with 600+ employees in Carlsbad, epitomizes exactly what it means to be a great community partner. Why is this, you might be thinking? Sara shares with our listeners that from day one - right in the initial charter for the company - Nordson distributes 5% of its US profits to local community needs. This is astounding for a public company and reflective of the DNA of this great organization. Sara goes on to share that approximately 70% of local community distributions go toward K-12 education, with the remaining funds going toward human wlefare needs, arts & culture, and civic engagement. We also learn how Sara and Nordson became involved with San Diego Gives. Let's just say that she was there at the very beginning brainstorming sessions! And, she liked what was happening so much that Nordson became the initial corporate sponsor to help get this great idea into orbit. What does she love about San Diego Gives?
