She was concerned about the misunderstanding surrounding nutrition and the narrow focus of her clients. She went on to earn a Master's degree in social work to understand the behavioral aspect of change and diet. Later, Dr. Dee Kinney earned her PhD in health promotion to bring together the behavioral science of social work and the science of nutrition.
