Episode 14- The Silver Screen's Silver Lining

from Vinyl n Celluloid · host Pedro Correia

Many pundits were quick to write-off the big screen as yet another Covid casualty. In a year when cinema closures were the new normal and the world's biggest movie #boxoffice market drops 80% (!), it's hard to feel optimistic about the future of cinema venues. Patrick von Sychowski, cinema guru and co-founder of celluloidjunkie, has some encouraging thoughts and a belief that the big screen's best days are still ahead. On the latest episode of my podcast, he voices his arguments for this "silver lining" view. We talked about: -How Netflix was the movie theatre's biggest ally in 2020 -The premiumization of moviegoing -Routes and scenarios for a comeback I hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it!
