from house music by dattrax · host dattrax
dattrax: Well... in Toronto, Ontario, Canada spring is just around the corner. We had an extremely mild winter. Just 3-4 snow storms. I hope that the weather and life have been treating you well wherever you are in the world.Welcome, dear House Friends. Welcome to a place where house music lives. Jim, my best friend, and DJ partner have loved house music since we were 15yrs. We're almost 50 and are DEFINITELY too old to be doing this (listening, buying, mixing, and dancing to house music), but it's very therapeutic, makes us happy, makes us feel young again + hopefully makes a few people happy along the way. I make all the mixes [except for "Visits", which Jim mixed the 2nd half], and Jim joins me in live DJ events. He's an incredible house DJ and an even more amazing friend. He loves me without judgment and knows about all the dumb shit I've done in my life.Life has been very interesting the last year. "Interesting" or "different" is code for a laundry list of unfortunate events. Getting kicked in the teeth has not been new to me over the last five years.I heard a podcast where this billionaire was talking about how he kept pressing on and kept working despite his entire life crumbling around him. He said that he had people coming into his apartment repossessing appliances, etc and he was at his desk and just kept on working. This gave me much hope to make massive changes this year. I have a good friend who has been building his 7th business for the last few years and finally will have massive success. His biz is growing like crazy and he now has two dozen full-time employees. This man is such a winner. I draw strength and inspiration when I think of him. We met when I was my bartender/waiter for a place that I managed. Then we did a few years of door-to-door & telephone prospecting in the B2B payment processing industry for various companies in Toronto. Then I became his right-hand man for three of his companies. This quote's power has kept me going through tough times throughout my 48yrs of existence » "Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit."Napoleon HillUnless I'm in jail, physically handicapped by disease or any variation of that, then I believe that I can still wash & shave each day, block out negative thinking, put a smile on my face, have a good attitude, have the willingness to learn, connect with people that energize me and move forward.I'm sharing this with you to let you know that others are struggling just like you. Just want to offer some encouragement. We all need it. There is hope out of your despair. We can connect and enjoy music together and all improve our lives. When we improve our minds and lives, then everyone we touch in the process will benefit. Paying it forward is a natural extension of a content, optimistic and happy heart.Enough of my Chinese fortune cookie excerpt. All the best to you and may your drive and passion bring you closer to your dreams.---------------Reach out to us and comment if you've enjoyed our mixes. Just Google 'dattrax' and find all places online that we've been a part of. [email protected] This is my wonderful daughter, Grace who's a young graphic artist studying at university. I thought of the Care Bears the other day and how they spread positivity beams through their chests. I Googled Sunshine Bear. Sent it to my daughter to replace the chest emblem with a house and music symbol. Probably not kosher, but since I don't make a dime out of this hobby, let's repeat: This mix is for PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY. Just send me an email if you're the company that owns the branding of Care Bears. I will replace this image immediately.---------------As always - massive thanks to the amazing vocalists, producers, DJs, and dancers (on the dancefloors or even in your homes or while walking about, walking your doggies, working out, driving, or whatever you're doing) for their incredible advancement of this beautiful musical genre!!
