"If You Want To Go Fast, Go Alone. If You Want To Go Far, Go Together" 2 years ago I never thought it could be possible. Sure, I thought of starting my own Real Estate brokerage and managing a team of agents. But this many… no way, not a chance! The main reason for thinking this was that I thought it was too much work for one person to manage. You know when you are on a job interview and they ask you to list your strengths and weaknesses? Well, this particular characteristic would definitely fall into the weakness category for me. I am 100% guilty of wanting to do things on my own. I want to learn anything, and try to do everything. Let me tell you, this is in no way a strength. And it has hindered my growth as a professional significantly. As I mentioned, I had thought about becoming a broker and growing my own team, thinking that this was the only way to accomplish my goals. But the more I looked into it, the more I realized that the amount of liability, risk, and financial investment wasn’t worth it to me. So that dream eventually dried up. But, I still had this thirst to want to help other agents build their businesses and maximize their careers. And almost on cue, I was was approached by Matt Ashby who shared with me an incredible opportunity, one that I had never heard of and one that honestly sounded too good to be true. Under normal circumstances I would have just dismissed this idea and passed on his proposal. But something told me to remain open to the idea and dig a little deeper. There was something about this model that just felt different… it felt right. After some careful reflection and consideration, along with a willingness to follow my gut. I made the decision to “burn the boats” and embark on a journey that required me to bet on myself... Or so I thought. I had chosen to leave a 100% brokerage, offering to give up 20% of my commissions. This may sound counterintuitive, but the idea was to focus on the “long game”. Sacrifice the 20% to make more later.
