After struggling academically, this athletic endeavor felt like his big-break – a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a name for himself and do something really meaningful. Upon hitting various peaks and valleys in his career and after deep self-reflection, Tom was faced with the decision to retire his skates. Without a high school diploma, it took time for him to arrive where he wanted to be.
