Your Daily Prayer 🙏🏾 John 10:10 God calls the unlikely so that His power can be undeniable. Today’s daily devotional is based on the story of Jesus choosing the Twelve. After a night of prayer on a mountain, Jesus handpicks twelve ordinary men to walk closely with Him, learn from Him, and eventually continue His mission. These men included fishermen, a tax collector, and even a future traitor—none of whom seemed likely candidates for spiritual leadership. STORY Heroes in the Bible: The Twelve Scripture And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles. Luke 6:13 Have you ever felt unqualified for something God placed on your heart? Jesus spent the night in prayer before choosing His twelve disciples—ordinary men with no fame, power, or religious pedigree. Some were fishermen, one was a tax collector, and another would one day betray Him. Yet, these were the men God entrusted to spread the Gospel. Why? Because God values availability over ability. This story tells us something vital: you don’t have to meet the world’s standards to be used by God. What areas of your life have you ruled out as unusable to God? When Jesus chose the twelve, He wasn’t picking a dream team by worldly standards. He was selecting hearts He could shape, minds He could renew, and lives He could send. We often disqualify ourselves before God even speaks, thinking we’re too broken, too unknown, or too ordinary. But it’s precisely those qualities that open space for God’s glory to shine through us. In God’s hands, ordinary becomes powerful. Are you waiting to feel “ready” before stepping into your calling? This story is also a call to action. Just like the disciples, we are called to follow first, then be transformed. Following Jesus may take you out of your comfort zone, but it will place you in the center of God’s will. The Twelve remind us that anyone—yes, anyone—can be used by God if they’re willing to follow Him fully. What does saying “yes” to Jesus look like in your life today? REFLECTION Look at your life through the lens of God’s calling, not the world’s expectations. Are you hesitating to say yes because you think you’re not ready or worthy? Stop measuring your purpose by your past. Start asking God how He wants to use your life today. Whether it’s reaching out to someone in need, serving in your local church, or being a voice of encouragement, your obedience can make a lasting impact. FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT ACTION: FAITHFULNESS Encourage someone who's faithfully serving in ministry, work, or family. PRAYER The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Just as Ezekiel spoke to the dry bones, I speak to all the dreams that have died too soon, and I declare that today is the day they will be resurrected. Today they will be restored. Dead visions, dead strategies, and dead alliances must also be brought back to life. You are making everything new, God, and my greatest days are still ahead of me. I won’t settle for anything less than Your best for me. Father, my weapons of war are not carnal—not physical—but spiritual and supernatural. They are powerful in Your hands, capable of destroying all strongholds. I remind principalities and powers that they have no right to interfere with my life, because I am covered by Your covenant. I belong to You. You have made me “more a conqueror” — a mighty warrior in You. Every tongue that speaks lies will be silenced, and Your Truth will be revealed. I know that the enemy of my soul tries to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give me life—abundant life in Him. I choose to live that abundant life today. Thank You, God, that I am experiencing that abundant life even now—and so is everyone connected to me. It’s a done deal.
