Episode 1439 - Jarvis Kingston In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. -Proverbs 14:26
from Jarvis Kingston · host Jarvis Kingston
Your Nightly Prayer 🙏🏾 Psalm 53:2 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. -Proverbs 14:26 DEVOTION Based on Proverbs 14 This paradox puzzles many: how does fear produce confidence? The fear of the Lord isn't terror but reverent awe that recognizes who God truly is. When we grasp His majesty, our other fears shrink. Strong confidence comes not from self-reliance but from knowing the Almighty is our Father. This fear builds a refuge for our children—our reverence for God creates a spiritual shelter for the next generation. When kids see parents who trust God through storms, they learn where to run when their own storms come. This holy fear doesn't paralyze but empowers. It's the foundation of unshakeable confidence because we know whom we serve and whose we are. A.C.T.S. REFLECTION ADORATION: Awesome God, You are worthy of reverent fear. Your power is limitless, Your wisdom unsearchable, Your love unstoppable. You are both mighty and merciful, just and gracious. CONFESSION: I confess I've feared everything except You. I've sought confidence in my abilities rather than Your sovereignty. I haven't modeled holy fear for those watching me. THANKSGIVING: Thank You that fearing You eliminates all other fears. Thank You for being a refuge for me and my children. Thank You that reverence leads to confidence, not cowering. SUPPLICATION: Lord, teach me proper fear that produces bold confidence. Help me model trust that creates refuge for others. Let my reverence for You cast out every lesser fear. PRAYER God looks down from heaven on the children of men to see if there are any who understood, who seek after God. PSALM 53:2 Dear Lord, only a fool would deny You. To those who have ever pondered their purpose or considered their eternity, You have shown Yourself perfect and true. You do not remain high and separated from us; You bend down to bless us. You reveal Yourself to princes, peasants, sinners, saints, scholars, and servants. Anyone who seeks You will be met with perfect love and peace. That is why tonight before I lay my head to rest, I will rejoice that You have revealed Yourself to me. Before I drift away in a sea of dreams, I will anchor my heart in You. I will not be put to shame or be left in ignorance because You have been faithful to reveal Yourself to me. Show me Your grace tonight. Settle my heart in Your peace. Anchor my soul in You, Lord Jesus. In Your name, I pray, Amen. 🙏🏾 PRAY FOR YOUR COMMUNITY Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/jarvis-kingston--1517583/support.
