Episode 148: Bitten Jonsson

from Low Carb MD Podcast · host The Low Carb MD Podcast

Thank you for joining us for another episode of the Low Carb MD Podcast. We are very happy to have a brand new, first time guest on the show—Bitten Jonsson, RN. Bitten is a Swedish food addiction expert who has developed her own treatment method called Holistic Addiction Medicine. She was introduced to addiction medicine in California at a treatment facility. Since then, she has been dedicated to studying addiction and working with people to overcome their addictions. In our discussion with Bitten, we discuss sugar/food addiction as well as addiction generally. Step by step, Bitten walks us through the steps to recovery from food addiction. She explains how to properly conduct a diagnostic interview with a patient, the difference between 'harmful use' and 'addiction', and the benefits of group therapy for a patient in recovery. We discuss techniques for reducing stress as well as techniques for staying motivated to continue to fight your addiction. Finally, Bitten explains how sugar addiction is, often times, the gateway to other addictions.  For more information, please see the links below. Thank you for listening!
