Episode 149: Crash the Calm

from March Forth with Mike Bauman · host Mike Bauman

On this episode of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Crash the Calm! Hailing from New York, Crash the Calm is a band in the emo/post hardcore realm that initially formed in late 2014. On July 24th, the band released their first new music since 2021 - and first with new lead singer James Cadolino - with their single "Rope." Accompanied by a music video filmed by James Morano, "Rope" is an emotionally charged song that tackles the frantic struggle to feel fine. Throughout the video for "Rope," Crash the Calm conveys that struggle to feel okay with multiple symbolic moments. Morano has also worked with Crash the Calm previously on their videos for "No Deeper Than A Coffin" and "My Nowhere."  After working hard in the studio in 2023, Crash the Calm will release their self-recorded and produced Lifeless Sounds EP in January 2025. In this episode, Dan, Pat, and James from Crash the Calm talk with Mike about how they got into music, awesome shows they went to back in the day in New York, perseverance through lineup changes, how James became part of the band in their search for a new singer, the meaning behind "Rope" and the emotional music video that they did for it, and more. This episode also features the aforementioned "Rope" from Crash the Calm, available where you get your music! Follow Crash the Calm on Instagram @crashthecalmny.
