The Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast is on the air. . This time I am exercising my professorial privilege to get just a bit educational. Much of progressive rock, especially in the early days, was based on classical music, including rock and jazz-rock versions of classical pieces. I dedicated show 24 all the way back in 2014 to spotlighting the prog-rock versions of classical music. In this show, I am turning the idea around. I will be playing the actual pieces of classical music that became the inspirations for progressive rock transcriptions. I will be discussing the prog rock versions with the help of excerpts from many favorite prog rock acts.
