Episode 149 - The DIsappearance of Eleanor Rigby - Them *Listener's Choice*
from In The Queue - Film Conversations with Andrew and Phil · host Andrew and Phil
An incredible cast is at play in this romantic drama, itself a mash-up of two separate movies that portray the end of a love affair from both male and female perspectives. You can thank the surgeons (butchers?) at the Weinstein Company for recognizing how they could make an unorthodox two-film art experiment into a single critical darling. Hard to know how successful they were without seeing all the films, but Andrew, Phil and guest star Aaron focus solely on Frankweinstein's monster, the film that alternates between male and female perspectives. Phil loved the performance by Jessica Chastain and overall enjoyed the observational style of director Ned Benson. Andrew was adamantly NOT a fan of the film, which stood in stark contract to Aaron's worshipful perspective of the film that he chose for this discussion. It's up in the air whether this film can be endorsed by In the Queue. Check it out for yourselves and make your own decision, ya dummies!
