Episode 15 Conviction For Correction

from Coach's Corner with Paul Ybarra · host SetFreeRecoveryCoach

The place of conviction is the place of correction. When the holy spirit begins to prompt you or nudge at you to turn the other way, it's like a detour on a road. The bible tells us that “there seems a way that is right to a man, but in its end, leads to death.” So, if you can picture yourself driving down the road, and you’re in a hurry, and all of a sudden there is a roadblock… you tend to get a little upset or anxious. But what this detour is doing for you is actually protecting you from the danger that lies ahead. You may not see what is behind the barricades on the road, but you trust that you must go the other way in order for you to be safe. This goes the same with the holy spirit, God isn’t out to destroy you or keep you from something great, He is shielding you and protecting you from what you think is right. So, when we go after our fleshly desires, the holy spirit will nudge at us, and at times, it is a fierce tug at our hearts not to do what we are about to do. This is why it is imperative to do things in an orderly fashion. When you are about to cuss someone out, the Lord will speak to your heart, if you are taking the time to listen. When you are about to click on that page that you shouldn’t, He will whisper which way you ought to go. Have you ever had that crazy feeling when you are about to go down the wrong alley at night, that aery feeling that just doesn’t feel right? Yup, that too my friend is the holy spirit keeping you on point. Think of the holy spirit as the best coach you could ever have. This coach has been with you from day one, he/she has been watching you and preparing you for the greatest game ever, and every day they are right there with you, leading and cheering you on. Those times that you wanted to eat that twinkie, or the snickers bar, this coach that has the best interests for you in mind, begin to remind you of all the hard work you have done and lets you know to go just a little more so that you are prepared for the next level. This is the gentle nudge of God. He is always protecting His prize possession, and that possession is you my friend. The bible says that you are the apple of His eye. He will lead, guide and protect you from all harm, but you have to stay on the path that He has for you. Never underestimate that power of His love for you, it is one that is irreplaceable. When I say to trust what I am saying, please believe me, I was totally out of God’s protection in one lonely season of my life, I wanted to make sure that the world I had left behind, didn’t have any room for me. I backslid into a place that was way worse than when I never knew the Lord. See, when you know God, and He knows you, meaning relationship with Him, the moment you step out of the bounds of protection by becoming defiant and rebellious and doing your own thing, you come to the place of real wilderness. This place was very scary and lonely because I didn’t hear His voice. He was there, but the disconnect that I had with Him separated me from all the things He was trying to protect me from. But there was the one day that I knew I heard Him well. I was deep in sin, and I literally heard His voice calling me back, and I got up from the place that I was and left everything behind to find the plans and the promises that He had for me. You can always come back, but my question for you today is, “why would you ever want to leave just to see what the world feels like, again?” please, stay in His graces and mercies, no matter what you think is better behind the barricades of that roadblock, trust the voice that tells you to go the other way, your results will end up so much better than what the world can ever offer you!! setfreelife.net
