When we hear terms like sex addiction, our minds often will go to a person addicted to one night stands or pornography because they are addicted to the concept of sex. However, sex addiction runs much deeper than just the physical act. So what does recovery look like for a person struggling with that addiction? What about the victims they often abuse and manipulate to fulfill their addiction? We are so grateful for our guest on today's episode is Marnie Ferree, licensed marriage family therapist and executive director of Bethesda Workshops. She shares her own story of sex addiction after growing up in an abusive home, and how she overcame that addiction and used her experience to help others through Bethesda Workshops. Who is Marnie Ferree? Marnie C. Ferree is the founder of Bethesda Workshops and has a national reputation as a leader in the field of sexual addiction. She has an active role in every workshop. In 1997, Marnie established a workshop program for female sex addicts that was the first of its kind, and today draws participants from across the United States and Canada. That program expanded in 2001 to include workshops for male sex addicts, partners, and couples, and it was renamed Bethesda Workshops. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a certified sex addiction therapist (CSAT).
