Episode 157: Almodovar

This week we bring you a very special episode of our cousin podcast Cabronas Y Chingonas (CYC) -We are joined by Babelito to talk about Pedro Almodóvar, a queer, Spanish director who has been shocking people for decades with experimental, sentimental, and consequential films. We discuss the recurring themes and plots in films like Pepi, Luci, Bom and Kika. The subtle political themes that seeped through in All About My Mother and the beauty in Volver. The huge change that occurred in his storytelling at the turn of the century with The Skin I Live In, Julieta, and Pain and Glory. We also discuss how his films affected Babelito on a personal level and our hopes for a post-COVID world. Follow Cabronas y Chingonas @CYCpodcast and cabronasychingonas.com Stay safe people. And as always, send your questions to [email protected] and we may read them on a future episode. #podsincolor #supportbrownpodcasts #supportlatinxpodcasts #lwlpod #latinx #SupportBrownPodcasts #SupportLatinxPodcasts Show Notes: Desert Hearts Movie Cabronas y Chingonas Dark Habits Que Hecho Yo Para Merecerme Esto Liliana Felipe Chavela Vargas Unsettling Journeys La Movida Marilleña Recommendations: Puchica Vos Podcast Radio Cachimba Café con Chisme El Puente Podcast Call now and leave a voicemail: (512) 333-0471 Thank you to all of our supporters on Patreon and Paypal!
