Episode 16 - Baby Steps

from Home and Away - A Sporting KC Podcast · host Drew VanderPloeg and Cody Welton

Drew and Cody discuss the 0-0 home draw vs. Columbus and what worked and what didn't.  The defensive mentality that Peter Vermes asked for after the LAFC loss was definitely there, in the form of Kortne Ford.  A discussion around head injuries and what IFAB or MLS can do about it after Isi's injury. Offensively, still fairly vanilla, and struggling to create chances or get the ball in dangerous areas.  Fotis Bazakos' inability to call a PK aside, the team was not aggressive enough in the attacking zone.  Is the problem structural?  Is it roster construction?  Is it using the wrong players in the wrong places?  We let out a lot of frustrations and concerns out about the current state of the club and whether we see a way forward.   Progress was made, but it feels like the start of preseason, not Game 9. Music by The Spin Wires.
