Episode 16: First Reactions and Toxic Relationships in The Ultimatum: Queer Love S2

from No Boundaries: Black Girl Magic Edition with Anousha Nzume · host Anousha Nzume

The Ultimatum: Queer Love is one of our favorite queer shows on TV right now. While the contestants can be messy and a little bit toxic, the show does give an accurate representation of WLW relationships. Sometimes when you don’t see yourself in the media, it can be easy to lose sight of what’s realistic in a relationship. It’s important to remind ourselves which fights are worth having and when you know when enough is enough. Queer relationships are not magically perfectly healthy, or out right doomed, just because they’re queer. Relationships take work and this show helps queer folks not only bond over an amazing reality tv show, but it helps us feel a little bit more normal in our everyday lives. In this week’s episode, we’re going to be talking about our first reactions to the couples and calling out the toxic relationships on the show. As we were watching, we saw a pattern pop up. So many people were either replicating their initial toxic relationships or breaking free from their toxic patterns. Each episode opened the contestants' eyes to themselves, and whether they choose to get better or get worse is up to them. Tune in to hear our thoughts and more in this week’s episode. Enjoy!
