from Play This At My Funeral · host Play This At My Funeral
💐 Episode SummaryWe’re calling this one “Covers, Colors, and Caring.” At least that’s what our feistiest guest of all time, Tracy F****** Weiss is calling it. This episode will rock you, and pull back the veneer of the human experience to showcase the raw, real underbelly of what it means to feel deeply. Tracy has been through it all, and shares a gorgeous playlist that is an arc of a storyline – much like a rainbow. You’ll cry, you’ll giggle, and you’ll learn more than you knew you could about wine, the theme of color and sentiment in music, and how we can unlock our most badass selves by going through the hardest curveballs life has to throw at us. From The Rolling Stones to Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile to Joni Mitchell, and Iron & Wine, Ben Folds Fives, and Liz Phair in between, get ready to get plugged in directly to the soul of the world. Once you listen to this episode, you’ll be changed. And our host Dinah hopes you find the courage to live as boldly, as colorfully, as Tracy does every day. 💿 Songs Mentioned“Rainbow” by Kacey Musgraves“Over The Rainbow” by Judy Garland“Welcome To The Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance“Court And Spark” by Joni Mithcell“She’s A Rainbow” by The Rolling Stones“Underground by Ben Folds Five“Paint It, Black” by The Rolling Stones“Polyester Bride” by Liz Phair“In Your Eyes” by Jeffrey Gaines“The Only Exception” by Paramore“All These Things That I Have Done” by The Killers“Ireeplacable” by Beyonce“I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” by Taylor Swift“Dancing On My Own” by Robyn“I Feel Better” by Gotye“Closer to Fine (From Barbie The Album) by Brandi Carlile“In My Life” by Madison Cunningham“Silver Lining” by Rilo Kiley“This Must Be The Place” by Miles Fisher“Nothin’ But A Good Time” by PoisonYou can listen to Tracy’s playlist here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/574ZFaLEwgNrh7SOlo64TX?si=2tjN714LQaCY8NimUQ9ofA 🎙 About the GuestTracy Weiss, a Midwestern expatriate, has called New York city home for 20+ years. She spent a decade working in the entertainment industry before a cervical cancer diagnosis at the age of 30. Despite facing a treatment plan that would ensure infertility, Tracy’s insurance company denied her claim to preserve fertility as ‘elective’ – as if anyone would choose to have a tumor. In 2017, she joined the founding board of TCM (the resident creative among math nerds), served as the Executive Director since 2020 and now represents the organization as the Chief Communication Officer.🌹 About Play This At My FuneralPlay This At My Funeral is a deeply fun, slightly macabre, always heartwarming podcast about the songs that shape our lives — including the ones we’d play at our funerals.
