Episode 16: Your Safe Place
from Detox with Abi · host Abimbola Arawande
(Psalms 27:3-5 ; 2 Peter 3:18) How do we live in troubled times? Is there a way to survive the difficulties brought upon us? David in one of his Psalms was troubled. He was in distress. He was discouraged. He was in danger. In the midst of all his troubles. He tried to obey God. He had no place BUT for One - a safe and secure place. That was the only thing he asked for- God’s presence. He said in Psalms 27:4-5 “I’m asking GOD for one thing, only one thing: To live with him in his house my whole life long. I’ll contemplate his beauty; I’ll study at his feet. That’s the only quiet, secure place in a noisy world, The perfect getaway, far from the buzz of traffic.” David had an experiential relationship with God. He knew whenever danger was near, the Lord would keep him safe and take care of him. Peter also encouraged the Church in 2 Peter to be careful and not allow themselves to be discouraged and led astray because of trying times they were facing and false teachers and prophets teaching wrong ideas of Jesus and God we’re not making it easy for them. He encouraged them to stay in their safe place - which is God’s presence. He told them to “...grow [spiritually mature] in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ...” 2 Peter 3:18 AMP The only place where our peace and spiritual growth is guaranteed is in God’s presence. Study the Word of God. Listen to worship songs. Make friends with people who love God and His Word. Attend Bible-believing Church so that you can be encouraged and also be used to encourage others. Remember- stay in your safe, secure place. Let us pray Lord help me to find in You my safe and secure place. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
