Episode 163 - The Whale & Pinocchio (w/Ms. Filmingo)

from Talkin' TV

It's that time, people! With only three weeks left in the year of 2022, we're here to start breaking down the awards bait movies, and we're starting with one that may have gotten a little overhyped, but not for the reasons you may think. Kristen aka Ms. Filmingo joins Dom to break down the new Darren Aronofsky movie, the comeback vehicle for one Brendan Fraser, the Whale. Adapted from a stageplay by Samuel D. Hunter, the film sees Fraser as Charlie, a 600 lb man who is slowly dying of congestive heart failure and is attempting to make amends in his life before his inevitable death. They break down the film's awards chances, the narrative surrounding it, whether the hype around Fraser is real, and ultimately whether or not it is worthy of all the praise it is getting. Then they take a couple minutes to talk about the new Guillermo Del Toro directed, stop motion animated Pinocchio movie that dropped on Netflix, featuring an ensemble cast including David Bradley, Ewan McGregor, Ron Perlman, Finn Wolfhard, John Turturro, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton & Christoph Waltz. Be sure to keep tuning in for the last two weeks of the year only on the #talkintvpodcast
