Welcome to Appointment Television, our podcast about the TV you want to make time for. I'm Margaret and with me are. I'm Katherine. And I'm Andrew.
Wow, those are like, we were at like a four and then those mics with on and you guys went like right on up to like an eight. Both second were overcompensating for it. Great. Great.
Yeah. Also I got this chocolate pumpkin porter and I thought it might be good or it might be gross and I'm still not sure. I'll update everybody as we go. We just have border pumpkin porter check in throughout.
Yeah, just do it. In this episode, we are devoting to answering questions from you, our wonderful listening audience. We solicited some. Y'all sent us a lot of winners and we are just going to run straight on through them.
First step from Kirk via Twitter, which prestige TV platform actually lives up to the hype? HBO, Netflix, Amazon, AMC. What do you guys feel? So Kirk has just listed all the TV platforms.
I know these are all necessarily prestige. I don't know that I think of Amazon as particularly prestigious and Netflix is a real grab bag. Amazon's trying. It doesn't even name stars, which is a premium cable subscription or showtime.
Also premium cable subscription. Netflix is on there. You skipped FX. I think it would be- You didn't say it out loud.
Yeah, you didn't say it out loud. You might call that skipping. Maybe. In some circles.
I think that might be my answer. I think FX is pretty good. They had the whole Louisa Cape thing, which God I wish we could go even one week without touching on that. Yep.
But yeah, they're pretty good. They did terriers even though they cancelled it. It's better to get better to have loved and lost. Yeah.
And the Americans is one of the very few prestige TV shows where the ending was unambiguous. They were obviously really good. And you have to spend a ton of time talking about what they actually meant when they ended it with a Coke ad or whatever the fuck. So that's me.
I feel like I just sort of reject the premise of the question. I don't think any of them actually live up to the hype. Right. Agreed.
They all have highlights. And then they all have months at a time where you watch nothing on that platform. Right. I think it's much easier to pick which platform is most overhiked, in which case I would say AMC.
Yeah, AMC had those two shows and that kind of really people- Road to dive. Yeah. The Hulk and Catch Fire ended up being good but it was good in kind of a low-key way that nobody really paid attention to. Yeah.
There was certainly no hype. Yes, right. It did not. Catch Fire.
It halted though after four seasons. It did halt after one bad season and three decent ones. Fantastic ones. You take that back.
Amazon is just like trying so hard. It's trying so hard. Yeah. The high castle has had like nine seasons now I think.
And I haven't heard anything about any of them. It was too dominant the advertisements in the subway in Boston very prominently. And it's like that image of like a Nazi flag has been like re-stitched into a piece side and every time I look at it I just like puzzle. I'm like, can you do that with those lines?
Does that work? I can't tell. I haven't figured it out. I will say that Amazon has a show that's coming up this month called Homecoming.
Ooh, I've heard interesting things about that. It has not. It sounds like it's about sexy teens murdering each other. What's it actually about?
No, that's illegal. Which is on Netflix which you should absolutely watch is a thousand percent of our sexy teens in Spain murdering each other. No, Homecoming on Amazon is the new Sam S-mail show he did Mr. Robot.
The first is a limited series. It's ten episodes long. It's a drama but the episodes are half an hour. Ooh.
And they look very hitch cocky. Ooh, yeah. And it's so good. And it stars Julia Roberts in her first TV performance since forever.
Does that mean that TV has raised its standards enough to capture Julia Roberts or that Julia Roberts has lowered her standards enough to appear on television show? I don't know which of those it is but I do know that it means that Amazon is just throwing shit tons of money. Yeah, that's what they got. Yeah.
I also think. Rockets and Julia Roberts, the two things that Jeff Bezos can afford. Homecoming is fantastic though. So that's, you know, that's like a legit prestige thing that I think is going to be a feather in Amazon's cap.
I would say that in Vree Julia Roberts, I think that I've heard that Hollywood's real hard on older actresses and I've observed that TV is not quite as hard on them and that there are more stories that can be told centering them because they understand better how to capture a female audience on TV than they do in movie theaters. Sure. Speaking of movies and television, let's move on to Kirk's second question. Are superhero TV shows better or worse than corresponding superhero movies?
And this is a very difficult question for me to answer. I don't really go in for either of them. Like my cop out answer is that I think a TV show is more true to a comics kind of episodic serialized continuing format than a bunch of movies are but that's like I'm saying that. I watch half a season of Jessica Jones and then drop that like that's it.
Yeah. None of the Marvel TV shows have really done anything for me. Whether you talk to the prestige ones like Jessica Jones or the popcorny ones like Agents of Shield. That's not true.
I do love Agent Carter. A lot. People seem to like Supergirl like increasingly. I've heard the good things about black lightning also.
I think if I had world enough in time, I could fuck really hard with all of the CW's superhero shows. Like I think I could be in the tank for the Flash really really hard whereas I would fuck never with any of DC's movies. Yeah. So that's an interesting contrast.
Like maybe DC is good at TV and bad at movies and vice versa. What I fuck hard is with and what I fuck unambiguously with is Marvel movies. I'm always disconcerted by how much I find myself caring about them which is a lot. I find myself caring about them a lot.
Yeah. And it's not necessarily because they're good and the things that make them interconnected are usually my least favorite parts but like they are well cast and I'm very attached to many of those figures. Catherine do you have an opinion before we move on? I have no opinion.
Catherine has no opinion. She pleads the fifth to avoid incriminating herself. Yeah. We're all on trial here by the way.
It's like Star Trek TNG. We don't try the whole time. Okay. So Colin via Twitter asks are there any common TV tropes that you've been loving specifically over the last few years?
I like that there's more texting on TV now. Catherine, that was going to be my answer. But there is more texting and it's really well done. A lot of it is really really well done.
Some of it still has some annoying like remnant things like leaving keyboard clicks on. Which why? Why does that happen? Jane the virgin never charges her phone.
I think real people like that though. I mean they baffle me but I know a lot of real people who never got a fucking charge of some time. I got texts from my roommate a couple weeks ago and they were like hey does anybody have a charger in the apartment? Both my roommates were like nah mine's with me.
Sorry. And I was like oh yeah that one in my bedroom. And I was like do people have just like one phone charger? It's badly.
I think there are a lot of people who have just like the one little block and the little cord that came with their phone. I know. And like nothing more. I have like six.
How did they live? Well a lot of them live in my purse. Grant and I also can just like lift them from the loss and bound of the library when we're like at the point where we're sending it on to the cops. Right so you're the reason why nobody has more than one phone charger.
I'm saying to yourself the mystery. Okay let's circle back though. A fifth of all the things that I own by volume are phone chargers. But yeah so texting school.
I just also think like shows are doing it well like shows have figured it out how to do it with like strong storytelling. Younger does it. Jane the Virgin does it. You on Lifetime is very good at texting.
I knew he was going to come up. I love that show. I knew he was going to come up sweetheart. Anyway that's mine.
And I would say to elaborate on that just like shows are getting technology better and not all shows not all of the time. But like when you have Nana's party on American Vandal that's like a high water mark for it's pretty good. I mean call me when anybody locks their fucking phone with a passcode I guess. Other than that people are getting tech okay.
I feel like it's an upward trend. I feel like we have a couple of shows that are really just shining examples. Whereas previously we only had done caps to hand out. Sure sure sure.
Andrew do you have any. The thing that came to mind I'm trying to think of other examples though I know they're out there and you guys can maybe help me. I feel like TV's been doing a slightly better or more nuanced job with mental health issues. I'm thinking a lot of crazy ex-girlfriend which is a very very complex like view on Rebecca Bunch's whole deal.
But I feel like there's been more space for people to like get the help they need and also there's been like just more sympathy and more exploration of the actual issues that people who suffer from depression and from all kinds of stuff actually go through. So that's mine I guess. I feel like less conflation of like special genius and mental illness like on homecoming. Not homecoming.
You know what I'm talking about? Homeland not the one that I was talking about. Look look look. Yeah I know I get it.
And just like a more sensitive handling of it across the board. Let me also call out the great British vacation of television. I feel like great British Bake Off taught TV makers that we as humans were hunkering for comfort and sincerity in our programming and that we're seeing like a boomlet related to that and I just want to I want to see that blossom. Yeah there's a room for kindness and warmth on your reality TV shows these days.
Yeah I think I need to start watching Terrace House. Okay next question. Yeah I've heard so many good things about Terrace House. Speaking of.
Speaking of. Nicely. Grrta. I don't know what this person's Twitter name is Halloween Twitter is messing it all up.
You know at grritagrita on Twitter. What soothes your weary soul on a Sunday afternoon evening and saves you from the Sunday blaws. For me it's knowing that the next day I'll have childcare. Sure sure sure sure.
Yep. Okay Mrs. Banks. Um for me I have been uh like elementary has really been like my go to just like just like shrugging on the comfy robe at the end of the night.
I thought it's truly dreadful play in Boston based on Sherlock Holmes that I cannot recommend enough for any local listeners. Um and it came home and I watched elementary and there was the plot was a former Yakuza had been killed and um his his artificial finger was missing and the artificial finger actually had a USB drive in it. Oh nice. Right and uh and Sherlock said normally I say the game is a foot but tonight I feel it's a finger.
I just was like I'm home. Oh wow. I want to stay here this moment forever. Uh huh.
Was really just so yeah elementary elementary my dear grita. What about you Andrew what do you do on a Sunday? Man I don't know I I I I will this time reject the premise of the question there's nothing that can truly save you from the Sunday blaws you can only mitigate them. He says that only because every Sunday night what he's actually doing is either finishing a book or doing research on an author so that he can record his Monday morning podcast overdue at like genuinely like 9 30 at night is when you guys go into that.
That's that's pretty early it's more like a thirty like. And then after that what is the two of you edits it that night. That's ridiculous. We were we were we don't need a lot of edits.
We're just you know just the gold spills out of our mouths and into audacity. Um I don't know I'm watching a lot of the good wife and watching an episode of the good wife is like getting an okay foot massage. You should clarify which season you're on. I won the first season of the day.
It gets better. It does get better. No I like it I like it fine. Good.
I think it kicks into another gear. Yeah like right now it's like oh this is fine it's gonna get to the point where it's like really good and addictive. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. And then it's gonna fade back into period where it is just fine. Yeah. It's a television show.
Exactly. What was your favorite TV show 10 years ago? This is an easy one for me to answer. It was definitely for Agamars.
Okay for Catherine we know it was Kings. I'm a C. I was still trying to figure out what year it was 10 years ago. Two thousand and eight.
Yeah. The first year we were free from college your first year of graduate school. Oh yeah. I feel like that point.
Your favorite was Terriers. Probably also Terriers. Still probably the office for me. If we can go like plus or minus one on the years community came out in 2009.
That was my shit for. Yeah. Technically Ron Amars ended in 2007 but it was still my favorite show. So everyone plus or minus one on that would be good.
Yeah. Alright. Alright. At JC Haldy via Twitter what show so far did you think was gonna be Pupamogie but has ended up surprising you?
Well I feel like this is where I need to point to Downward Dog again. Late lamented. Late lamented. And because I truly did think it was going to be just.
I think that trailer is so much. So much and for that one. It was a bad trailer. It was like a dog in your commercial.
Yeah. It was a bad trailer but the discrepancy between what I thought the show was going to be and what it actually was is bigger than really any other show I can think of. Like often when you think of a show you're like well it could be good but it probably is not going to be and Downward Dog I was like no chance. So yeah that's the one for me.
I feel like for me the most recent just like complete reversal of expectations was Jane the Virgin because I really I remember vividly just like seeing the ads right over and being like cool God this looks fucking stupid. So many shows have been done dirty by their own ads. Like my selection for this is Superstore which similarly the ads for to this day are fucking so bad but the show itself is very sweet. So sweet.
Can I share some lovingly shared news with Catherine? Yes please. My best friend from college Dina just had a baby and she's been like struggling to find things to watch and she was like could you tell Catherine thank you so much for recommending Superstore. I love it.
And she and her husband have been watching it you know like when they've got time away from their brand new baby boy. That's so nice. I knew you liked that. Hi Dina.
Sorry Margaret did you. You have anything else to say about Jane? I just want to pop up. Oh I mean like it's just it's I could never have imagined the tone that Jenny Ermett managed to execute with that show and like if you had told me how much I was going to love a show about a woman who gets artificially inseminated by her boss's sperm and decides to carry the baby to term despite being a virgin.
I would come on a ways real skeptical. Could have gone so many too. So what on the CW particularly. Yeah.
So that would be my answer. Mm hmm cool. This oh oh oh I was going to jump. I was going to say via Twitter asks what are each of your favorite shows of all time.
I feel like we must have talked about this but maybe we do favorite in the last year. So that last the thing the parent article was my my addition. I do feel like we I know we've done one other mailbag episode. I haven't listened to it.
I don't know what questions we did but. Well I feel like we must have rejected the premise like we host a TV podcast. Do you have one favorite show? Yeah they're like our children's.
We love them all. Exactly. And also like in some ways the answer is like well take a look at our TV book club history because that's a lot of them. Sure but not this one.
Okay let me let me reframe the question in an interesting way. If the show that you mentioned the most on the podcast was your favorite show what is your favorite show. Oh I mean it would have to be in the virgins. Yeah I mean it would have to be in the virgins.
I mean I think you'd be searching for like all of us. Minds no mind's definitely bonds. Yeah. It's 100% bonds.
100% bonds. That's true. That's true. Just the show that's had the most to do with shaping like me as a person.
My perspective on television and on bones. It's definitely bones. Andrew are you the booth or the bones? The heart of the bones Andrew which are you?
Or the bones I think I am the heart because cavern is the bones. I'm the bones? No of course you're more the bones. It's like all the time.
Of course she's the bones. I have to really consider some things now. I'm the heart. No, Margaret's clearly what's her face with Angela.
Angela thank you. What's Angela? Angela is the woman one who's easy top is her dad? Yeah he's the top is her dad and she does the like how are you not thinking about these people as people.
Oh she's very like artsy fartsy. She wears cute outfits and she dates people who aren't good enough for her. Yeah yes. Yeah but also again.
I'm not flattered. Half red. Yeah. Oh but she married a very beautiful African man.
Oh yeah. No. On the show Bones Andrew. Angela marries.
She married Hodgens but first she had to annul her marriage to that very beautiful African man that she couldn't even remember. How do you not remember this most interesting plot of? It's just I haven't watched the first earlier season of Bones in a while. I don't think you're fit bones.
You are outside the bones. Yeah. I've been saving myself for the bones. I want my perspective to be fresh.
What if we did Bones for a book club? What if we did all of Bones for a book? Jocelyn via Gmail asks if you have any TV characters as your parents who would you choose. The only requirement is the characters have to be a parent on their show but feel free to mix and match for different programs in any way you want.
Coaching is a great question. Coaching is a coach says Catherine. So good answer. My answer is started.
I knew immediately which dad I wanted but he's a single dad. I wanted Keith. Keith Mars is my dad. So then the question became who is going to just like take us out of the lower middle class and solidly into the upper middle class because like I was just like some.
I would like to allow it. I would like to spend money. I would like just fewer student loans and then like secondarily just like who do I think would really make heat happy. So this is more like I'm picking up my dad and my stepmom and I settled on and I feel pretty great about this.
Alicia from The Good Wife. Oh, I just think that he would be really into her whole stoic power studio vibe. She's hello loaded and could help you fray a lot of my personal expenses and I don't feel like at this point in time like I don't want parents who are all in my business. Like I've got that.
Thank you. No thank you. Stop. Next question ok thank you.
Please...... Thank you. And thank you Tom for making it nothing. I was so confused that she was like I'm going to be the guy who kinda told that it would have become this piece of cooperation and it marital consciousness who would make my dad an ad parent on that show, but it's a shame parent on that show.
She's terrible. Okay. I'm a 33 year old woman. I don't need very much active parenting anymore, knock on wood, hopefully mom doesn't disagree.
So yeah, Keith Mars and Alicia. Phil, Don't be unclared, Don't be seem like, they're really rich and it would be really easy to get shit past them all the time because they're never around or paying attention to their kids. So that's my answer. That's why you guys not want good parents.
You picked the best ones, Catherine. We all have to have an answer to the question. Also, arguably our coach and Mitch's coach, good parents, because Julie Taylor exists, guys. I mean, she's a teen, though.
Yeah, that's... Like, you're seeing her at the low ab of her personhood. Look, everybody says about Harry Potter, too, and she's like, teens are people, too. Don't come to send to them.
You know who else is a teen? Matt Sarrisen. You know who else is a teen? Landry.
Lots of people on that show are teens, are ample teens on that show. You know what? There's only one Julie Taylor. Okay.
But Matt Sarrisen and Lance both had to grow up fast because they have one too long. She's parents. I need to cut in to tell you why I want coach to be my dad, though, which is that I want him to have to grapple with my career as a TV critic. You do not get enough of this from your real life.
He would just be so, no, my real life parents are unbelievably supportive and proud of me. And I feel like coach would just bring a whole different, like, I don't understand any of this level. He would be very, he would understand none of it, but he would love all of it. Because you loved it.
Yeah. But if he had to turn down the job at Texas State University, A&M College to stay and support you, then he would. He would. He would.
Yep. Okay, next question. Oh, here's a question about how I became a writer TV critic. Tom Ricardo, be a TV critic.
I know, I became a writer TV critic. I started a blog when I was in grad school, and I didn't want to have to read giant 19th century novels. And so I, I like blogged about TV every day, and then I pretended that was my real job. And all my grad student advisors were like, where is your dissertation, though?
And then after grad school, it turns out there are no jobs for PhDs in English. So I pitched a J in the verge and recapped, and it got picked up, and here I am. That's, that's my story. Just like a tel novella, right?
That's right. That's right. Okay, next question. Who would you like to have as a guest on the podcast?
And I can't see the rest of the own why. Like it can be anyone other hosts TV people to interview, et cetera. Et cetera. Who would you like for?
Also, Ricardo, yes. Yes. Who would you like to have a guest on the podcast? Jenny Snyder.
Jenny Snyder. I mean, Jenny Snyder. I think she's like Rachel Bloom on the show. I would love to have her on the show.
She's really smart. And every time I've heard her talk about the process of making the show, it's extremely interesting. My pick is Megan Amram. Oh, yeah.
So they've gotten her on her Emmy tour. Mm-hmm. Yes. She's very funny.
I think that if we could get Matthew Reese and Carrie Russell on the show and just watch them be cute. No, I don't think that's possible because I would die. No, I didn't say it was possible. I just said I would like it.
I would like it. I don't think I would like it because of having been deceased. Maybe if that one time that Margaret had saw them before she knew who they were and she'd gone over and said hi. Before you cared who they were.
That's correct. Pat has got it, right? Yeah. That went on that I saw them adorably on a date at a pub in Brooklyn.
You're watching the soccer. They were watching the Welsh rugby team. And you texted us about like it was no fucking big deal and Catherine and I flipped out privately. I think I remember this being one of my first big text conversations with Jess Catherine.
Oh, but anyway, beautiful. I think I texted her about like what kind of wine to bring to her house and then I found out about this Matthew Reese. And we were like, what the fuck? And then I bought all of Carrie Reese's shirts for Americans.
Carrie Russell's shirts. Sorry, yes. I'm fine. Do we have stats of our viewership and how much does Andrew and or any of us obsess over them?
Ricardo, we do. We do have stats of our listenership. And I don't obsess about it too hard by am sensitive to dips. So like when we did a Star Trek TNG TV book club that we all had fun with, but went on for like six episodes and our like the downloads for them started to fall off a cliff, I was like, maybe we can't do TV book clubs that long anymore.
And so we don't. So I do like I do pay attention to it in so far as I try to take it into consideration when programming stuff, but it's not a it's the rare like graph that I don't like refresh six times a day to see what's going on with it. Which graph do you refresh six times a day? Just like go to 538.com.
Oh, got it, got it. It's their bad graph, Margaret. They're bad graphs, bad graphs, Brent. I don't know any of our stats because I feel like I could develop a really unhealthy relationship with them really, really quickly.
If I even knew how to access them, right? I was going to say, I'm not 100% sure you know how to get into the lips. And I can assume I've got the password somewhere. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. And I've used Libsyn for two bossy names. So I'm not like, it's not like, what is this interface? But no, I have never logged into our Libsyn.
What I bet what would trip you up is the email address to get. Yeah, but we won't tell you. We won't just we won't disclose that. Because that's like, that's a security risk.
That's right. OK. I was saying it on the air and letting you. Catherine, do you have a lesson about our listener stats?
I don't. I probably should more. And I have just all of my time is I have. You have so many things to do.
You have to do job. I think that's where we all are. Like we all have fun doing ATV. But it's always for all of us, like the third or fourth most important thing we're doing, which is not to say that we don't put time into it or think about it because we do.
But it's the one that runs along most smoothly with the least maintenance. And if we put more maintenance into it, like, I have no doubt, we could be the best TV podcast that exists in the world. Yeah. Or maybe we maybe are already in ways just that we don't not know people know about it.
Yeah. That's a good one of those. Lately because overdue is on Spotify and everybody is talking to us about, like, oh my god, overdue is recommended to me on Spotify and we're not on Spotify yet. And that like, it's just like a whole new market of people paying attention to podcasts and I want to be recommended to them in Spotify here is it's like pre-serial time with podcast acquisition.
That's just like where all the people who don't already have 86 podcasts they're committed to are. They're saffing that good for us. Like I want to be in that territory. I want to be in that space.
If we like, if we want to have this conversation, we do keep saying that we're going to have like a business conversation, but we just keep like getting busy and sick and look, yeah, all the things just I'm here. You're here. The mics are here. The listeners are here and I'm just, I'm just speaking my heart through it's wish.
How you are getting your something things. Okay. All right. Let's move on.
All right. Good meeting everyone from Paul via Twitter. You have a football slash basketball slash Quidditch slash D&D game and you have to choose five sitcom characters to be part of your game. Who would you choose and please one character from one show?
So for example, not the entire Simpsons family. What can I have that we do a D&D game? Yeah. In real life for the game for the game that we're picking before.
That's the one that's the strongest idea of like. So yeah, filter your choices through who you think would be good at the game Dungeons and Dragons by Wizards of the Coast. Okay. I pick Lydia played by Rita Moreno from one day to time.
Yeah. And I think we all know that that would be a fantastic experience. She had a good real dramatic layer. Yeah.
I'm going to pick Penny from Happy Endings. Could I think initially she thinks she was above it? But then she would get in so deep so fast. And it was just her ability to go off an addictive cliff is like incredible.
And I think she has a lot of really wild, uncontained energy that would bring real spark to the game. And also I don't want to say added because obviously Andrew was going to. It was across my mind. Troy or Obed in the morning.
What about Turk from Scrubs? What's Donald Faison doing? Turk from Scrubs would be great. I thought we could get actual Donald Faison to do a D&D game with us.
Like what is he up to? I will ask him when I see him next month. I know you're doing that Scrubs reunion panel. You dumb idiot.
If you live on the West Coast, you should get some tickets to LA's vulture fest where Catherine's going to be moderating. It scrubs reunion panel among other things. Yeah. Yes.
And a bunch of people are going to be there, including Bill Lawrence, which I'm very excited about. Oh, yeah. You can tell them about you can ask him to autograph your penny can. That's right.
But yes, it is on Saturday, November 17th at like 545 at some, I don't know, hotel someplace, but you can Google that. And you get a free drink if you buy a ticket. A free drink. Who else is going to give you a free drink?
I was doing like vulture fest East and found it very enjoyable. It's an entertaining event. All right. So who we got so far?
We got Penny. We got Turk from Scrubs. Catherine, what was yours? Lydia from one day to time.
OK, so we need two more. We need two more. Catherine, you go. And then I'm going to cheat.
I think I'm going to pick Ben Wyatt from Parks and Rec. Correct. We do need a DM. We do need a DM.
And he's a great DM. Yeah, I think that's going to. Can you imagine him and Lydia doing a DM together? Oh, it's going to be so good.
Fantastic. OK, last person. My cheat is because I can't pick just one of them because the separate that two of them would be unethical and unacceptable. I'm saying Maggie and Emma from playing house.
Knew it was going to be. You knew it was going to be. They do come to you. They thought I was going to cheat.
You knew it. Yeah. Aw, that would be a fun game. They would be so good at D&D too.
They would really just be the best. I feel like they would get really into the role play parts of it, but they would have to remind them which night to roll. Like everything had to do anything. Both of these would definitely come back.
Oh, God. Both of these. I'm wondering if Ben Wyatt would find them kind of unruly to DM. Like maybe so.
Yeah, but he would get so annoyed in an adorable way, though. Yeah. He could record like a very cute talking hand about it. I would listen to this podcast, the six of these people playing to you need together.
Fantastic. The adventure boat zone. He's only five. I was only five.
No, it was. He added. Because he cheated. He cheated.
Okay, last question. Last question. Hey, Tony. Hey, what?
No fucking ZD. What's your favorite at Margadism? Her recent when they take it from our cold hard hands, smashing together cold hard cash and cold at hands is my current front runner. I could not point to the episode that this happens in, but I do think there is one in which she references a horse fight, which is like a dog fight or a horse race, but I'm not aware of a horse fight.
I did too bad. Oh my God. I think I don't have a horse in this face. I just do something along this.
It was that it was horse in this fight. That's a good example of mine. Excellent. Yeah, I couldn't think of any off the top of my head, but I think my favorite Margadism is the just like epic Margaret tangent into how her shades are not drawn at night and how a stalker is obviously about to attack her.
And I was like, it's easy to close your blind. They're still not closed. They're still open. They're still open right now.
I just angled my computer over. I'm on the second floor guys. Nobody can see you. Yeah, nobody else has second floors.
By what magic have you gotten so far off the ground Margaret? I can imagine the people with second floors around me close their shades. I see. I'm just you're I'm safe.
You're heard. I'm hoping that I heard immunity. Yeah. Save you.
Yeah. And of course the classic mispronunciations query. That's a big one. Yeah.
Like many throughout the years. I probably do a clip show at this point if we wanted to kind of become a TV trope ourselves. I love it. Obviously.
Yeah. I can't pick a favorite Margadism. So instead I'm going to pick a least favorite Margadism. And that is the time that I accidentally thought that the guy from this is us was I'm going to ask her from the office just because he was Hispanic.
That was a real low point. I shouldn't say just because he was Hispanic, it was because he was Hispanic and he was vaguely familiar to me in the face. And it's because I watched him for many seasons on castle. At least you didn't yell.
Hey, Poonjib. At least I didn't do that. Didn't do that. Which is a reference for to the newsroom and not just Catherine being super racist.
Or say yeah. Yeah. No, didn't do that either. But this is just a valuable reminder for everyone that cross racial identification can be really hard.
And if you're on a TV podcast, you want to take a special care that you're doing it well and not being a racist idiot. Yeah. Or even if you're not doing a podcast, you know, just like a baseline to like even if you're not doing a podcast, even if you're not doing everyone's doing a podcast. If you're doing a podcast or providing police testimony, you just want to just like get out IMGB and just make super sure make super sure of all of your facts.
Yep. You can tell people about square space without accidentally being racist. Check yourself. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
We don't tell anyone about squares on this podcast. I'm good. We could. This is like the fucking yeah Spotify thing again.
Well, again, just like if you're listening out there and you're part of a podcast network and you'd like to acquire us, I think the ad copy we'd provide for you would be really exceptional. Andrew, if somebody wants to pay us to provide ad copy for it, can they find us? Usually I mean the ad copy is provided to you and sometimes people get really mad when you're DBA too far from it. Just not naming any names, but all right.

The mass Mexican wrestling show that you want me to watch. Hey, you love that. I really did. I really did.
Last time Craig came over to my house. That's pretty good. So you can pay $7 a month and you could change Andrew's mind forever about Mexican wrestling shows. Think about that kind of power.
Sure. Are we good Margaret? What do you, if we want to find us on Twitter, what should they do? They can find me at Mrs.
Raddy next. I'm at K Van Aaron. I'm at Andrew writes. If you are joining us ill-advisitly on our newsroom book club, we are going to be talking about episodes five and seven next week.
So I don't want you to watch. Like don't watch. Save yourselves. Just listen to us.
But if you want to watch, that's what you should watch. Yeah. Alright. And if you enjoyed us, please pencils and for next week.
Until then, bye. Bye.
