Episode. 169. Stream dynamics and the Spring Salamander, with Madaline Cochrane
from AmphibiCast · host Dan Drobates
Streams are unique habitats that are home to many different species of amphibian. But, do changes in stream dynamics effect amphibian lifecycles? And if so, how? This week I am joined by researcher, Madaline Cochrane and we discuss her paper, "Individual growth rates and size at metamorphosis increase with watershed area in a stream salamander." We focus our discussion on her work with Gyrinophilus porphyriticus (AKA the Spring Salamander) and how growth rate, behavior, and reproduction are all affected by variations in a stream biome. To read the paper please check out:https://esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ecy.4217Exo Terra is our sponsor this week.
