At the time, stepping into another identity felt less like a career move and more like an escape.As “Donny,” he bought drugs from dealers, entered biker clubs, had guns and knives pulled on him, and lived with the constant possibility that someone might discover who he really was. From the outside, he was succeeding. He was catching criminals, earning recognition, and doing work other officers couldn’t.
