In this episode, we meet Cecilia Avila, a recent college graduate from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)and now Program Associate at Break Through Tech Chicago. Ceci shares her unique high school story and the opportunity to begin college in a dual program early on. As a first-generation college student, Ceci reflects on her struggles navigating college as one of the only women of color in her classroom, imposter syndrome, and learning from her mistakes in college. We touch on various subjects including mentorship, her internship experience miss, as well as Ceci’s experience co-founding a student group at UIC called Latinx Organization for Growth in Computing and Academics (LOGICA).
