Episode 17: Michael Morgan

from Lock'd Up with Copville · host Copville

Copville and Mike Morgan talk use of force, mental health, and the 90's - 2000's crack epidemic. Mike Morgan is a retired (30) yr police Officer (City of Atlanta, Suffolk County, NY PD’s) veteran who was medically retired after suffering an on-duty back injury which required 2 surgeries, the last of which being a spinal fusion. After retiring he began experiencing feelings of anger of anger, depression, and general unhappiness although he could not pinpoint the origin. He sat down to watch a Shawn Ryan podcast in the spring of ‘23 and it all became clear as Shawn interviewed a former Navy SEAL named Eddie Penney who was visibly upset as he told the story of his best friend being killed in a helicopter accident in Afghanistan. After seeing Eddie cry, Mike simultaneously began thinking of a call that he had handled (5) yrs before involving a 2yr old girl found floating in a pool that he had buried DEEPLY & “lost it” himself. Mike realized instantaneously that he’d been suffering from some sort of PTSD & started a healing journey which included plant based medicines. He then dedicated his life to helping other vets/1st responders heal their own PTSD/Trauma issues Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
