Episode 173 Dr. Mark Blumberg

from Live to Walk Again · host survivingparalysis

This week on the Live to Walk Again Podcast we had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Mark Blumberg who is the Chair of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Iowa. We talked to Dr. Blumberg about his study into twitching while in REM sleep and how Western medicine thought about this twitching before Dr. Blumberg cracked the code. It turns out this twitching is actually a message traveling from the body to the brain to help map out our brains knowledge of our bodies. We chatted with Dr. Blumberg about how this could impact spinal cord injuries and possibly work with Artificial Intelligence to help plot new neural pathways between the body and brain to restore function and movement after SCI or strokes. Followed Dr. Blumberg and his Lab at the University of Iowa at the links below!! Please listen, like, rate, review, and share the podcast!! We're just trying to find a cure for paralysis!!
