Episode 176--If Everything About You Changes, What Stays the Same?
from Gita In Action Podcast · host Radha
Everything about us changes. Our bodies change. Our thoughts change. Our emotions, relationships, priorities, and circumstances change. We can look back at who we were five, ten, or twenty years ago and barely recognize that person. And yet, somehow, through every version of ourselves, there is still a part of us that has always felt like me. So what is that part? In this episode of Gita in Action, we begin Chapter 13 of the Bhagavad-gītā and explore Krishna’s distinction between the field and the knower of the field. The body and mind are constantly changing—but who is the conscious person experiencing those changes? Together, we’ll explore what it means to have a body without being the body, why over-identifying with our thoughts, emotions, and circumstances creates so much fear and suffering, and how the human form gives us the extraordinary opportunity to ask deeper questions about who we really are. We’ll also ask one very practical question: What am I doing with the field I’ve been given? Because spiritual life doesn’t begin when we finally get the perfect body, mind, relationships, or circumstances. It begins when we learn to use the field we already have for the purpose it was actually given to us.
