Indian Air Force is likely to get the delivery of its first Tejas Mk-1A aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in July 2024. Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA) Mk-1A made its maiden foray from a HAL facility in Bengaluru on March 28. Indigenization under the Make in India policy has significantly reduced the Indian Army's dependence on imports for ammunition. Private sector involvement in ammunition production has been pivotal in achieving this reduction. The Indian Army aims to stop importing most ammo in the next couple of years, except for a few non-commercially viable ones.
