Episode 178: Iszabel Fairbairn: Movement Medicine/Ecstatic Dance/Sound Therapy/The "How" of Human Consciousness

Iszabel is an Ecstatic Dance DJ, Movement Medicine Teacher, and Sound Therapist.  She holds classes, workshops, retreats and ceremonies around the world. Iszabel's teenage days were mostly spent travelling down the motorway at weekends, holding a spot in the club, usually by the speaker, and emerging next morning happy, fulfilled and totally danced-out.  Not knowing what to do with a degree in Modern & Medieval History, Iszabel looked inward and asked her heart.  A career in the music industry followed including artistic management, promotion, and 10 years at BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra producing studio programmes and documentaries. Iszabel is a resident DJ at Ecstatic Dance UK and Ecstatic Dance Ibiza and has played some of the most forward-thinking festivals, including Burning Man and Buddhafield.  She mixes shamanic tribal beats rooted in the Elemetns with underground club vibes.  She also offers 1-2-1 and group Relaxation and Reflective Sound Therapy sessions, where she plays the gong, Himalayan Bowls, Crystal Bowls and percussion. Izabel's latest offering is a DJ course for conscious dance teachers and health and wellbeing practitioners.  DJ Mystery to Mastery is a heart based approach to the art of mixing music.  Her hope is that the course will empower people to integrate DJ and musical skills into their medicine box for the benefit of all. Iszabel trained at the The School of Movement Medicine with Ya'Acov and Susannah Darling Khan, at the British Academy of Sound Therapy with Lyz Cooper and brings all of her experience of life into her work.
