Episode 179: How to Talk to Your Kids About Abuse
from The Speaking Out on Sex Abuse Podcast · host Jimmy and Clara Hinton
Finding out that a child was senselessly harmed by an abuser is a parent's worst nightmare. Many parents of abused children ask what they could have done differently. There is no "silver bullet" to prevent abuse. Sometimes abusers still easily bypass the safety net measures we parents put into place. Protecting children requires a multi-level approach. Educating our children is adding one more layer of protection. So how do we teach our children to protect their own bodies? We believe that developing a culture of education in the home is key. Talks about safety should be a regular part of family dialogue.
