Episode 18: Can I Truly Love?
from Detox with Abi · host Abimbola Arawande
(Matthew 5:44-48; Romans 5:5) Jesus is Love. It is only in Him we learn, know and understand how to truly love. It is easy to show love to those who love us. However, as Christians we a called to step-up! We are advised in Matthew chapter 5:44-48 to love like our Father loves- Listen to the verses- “What I tell you is this: You should love the people who want to hurt you. If people want to give you pain, pray for them. Pray that God would help them. If you live like this, you will show that you really are children of your Father above. God is kind to everyone. He causes the sun to shine on everyone, both good people and bad people. He also causes the rain to fall on everyone, people who obey him and people who do not obey him. Do you only love people who love you? God will not give you good things just for doing that. Even the men who take taxes love their friends! If you are only kind to your friends, then you are not doing anything special. Even people who do not believe in God do that. So you must be good in every way, as your Father above is good in every way.’”Matthew 5:44-48 EASY Thank God for His Holy Spirit that lives in us and has given us abundant ability to truly love because we are God’s children. Romans 5:5 states “Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5 AMP Pay attention to Christ in You. Pay attention to His Spirit that lives in you. We are called to love like Jesus. You can do this! Yes you can! Let us pray Thank You Father for loving me so much even when I am not making you proud Thank You for the gift of Jesus. Thank You for Your Spirit living in me that gives me the ability to love the way you love.
