Episode #18 - Changing Careers, Mid-Life by Kristan Nielsen

On this episode of Survive and Thrive 8791, we welcome Kristan Nielsen into the Buck & Honey's remote studios. Citing a concern for more family time, mental health concerns, and placing too much energy into her profession, Kristan decided to leave the classroom and change careers. In her mid 40s, when most teachers are contemplating retirement, Kristan listened to the voice in her head, that of her mother's and decided to work full time in the family Ace Hardware store. Her father and mother had built their family store into a very successful business. Citing more reasons to make a job change than to stay in the classroom, Kristan has renewed energy and time to do family things that were often hard to do after so much of her energy went into her students, parents, and support staff.
