Episode 181 - Samhain Stories - The Púca Of Kildare

Welcome back to the Candlelit Tales Podcast. ‘Tis the season for spooky folktales, and in this series, we will tell you more of our favourites. In this episode, we take a look at another one of the many and varied forms of the Púca, who can appear as a creature of the otherworld, a human, an animal, and much more besides. In this tale, the Púca arrive at a big house in Kildare in the shape of an ass, or a donkey with long ears and golden eyes. The servants find out that the Púca has been put under a curse to clean up and do their work for them, so the lazy servants stop working all together, making even more work for the Púca. But things don't quite work out how they had planned.
