Varèse's music emphasizes timbre and rhythm. He coined the term "organized sound" in reference to his own musical aesthetic. Varèse's conception of music reflected his vision of "sound as living matter" and of "musical space as open rather than bounded". He conceived the elements of his music in terms of "sound-masses", likening their organization to the natural phenomenon of crystallization. Varèse thought that "to stubbornly conditioned ears, anything new in music has always been called noise", and he posed the question, "what is music but organized noises?ArcanaIntegralesIonisationZubin Mehta, conductorLos Angeles Philharmonic OrchestraPurchase the music (without talk) at:http://www.classicalsavings.com/store/p1390/Edgar_Var%C3%A8se.htmlYour purchase helps to support our show! Classical Music Discoveries is sponsored by La Musica International Chamber Music Festival and Uber. @khedgecock#ClassicalMusicDiscoveries #KeepClassicalMusicAlive#LaMusicaFestival #CMDGrandOperaCompanyofVenice #CMDParisPhilharmonicinOrléans#CMDGermanOperaCompanyofBerlin#CMDGrandOperaCompanyofBarcelonaSpain#ClassicalMusicLivesOn#Uber Please consider supporting our show, thank you!http://www.classicalsavings.com/donate.html [email protected]

Beat Infectious Podcast Chris Jennings My love affair with music began when I started making mix tapes with a dual cassette recorder for friends while in junior high school. I moved from that to serving as a resident DJ and record store employee starting in the late 80’s. At 42 though I've mostly retired from playing out. I do take digging for new music very seriously and put a lot of effort into it. You can always listen to Beat Infectious live to hear what I've discovered over the last couple of weeks. I'll usually be serve up both new and classic house tunes that mostly concentrate on the deep and techy side, but occasionally may stray into it's disco heritage.
