Episode 182: Ephesians Series: You Are Called To Be A Saint
from Detox with Abi · host Abimbola Arawande
(Ephesians 1:1; Romans 1:7; Ephesians 2:19) For the next few weeks, with the help of the Holy Spirit, I will be expounding on Ephesians. So I will call it Ephesians series. Today, the focal scriptural verse is Ephesians 1:1 and will further focus on the word “saint” Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, wrote a letter to the saints which are at Ephesus.... Ephesians 1:1 KJV So the question is ‘who is a saint?’ Do you consider yourself as a Christian, to be a saint? I have heard Christian mentioned that they are sinners. I understand their perspective- humanly speaking no one is a saint, but in God’s eye, whoever had given his life to Christ is a saint. Ephesians 2:19 brings this to more light - “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;” Also in Romans 1:7 “to all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Let’s use the analogy of a father-son relationship. When a son is born into a family, he automatically bears the name of the family. His identity is linked to the family. Although, as a baby son, it will take time for him to mature from crawling, to walking, making several mistakes till he gets to maturity. Now, will there be an identity crisis because he makes mistakes? No, he knows his family and knows he belongs. He goes to the father or family for reassurance and encouragement. How much more God - the Father of all fathers - He has called us His saints, He has called us His people. God is not taken aback by our mistakes; rather He is always available for us as a very present Help in time of need. So please be mindful of this truth - God had called you to be a saint. He has called you to be His own people.
