Episode 184 - Saving Private Ryan (1:30:56)

from Actual Anarchy Podcast - AnCap Movie Reviews from a Rothbardian Perspective · host Actual Anarchy

“Saving Private Ryan” for D-Day’s 76th anniversary, with Prof CJ of the Dangerous History Podcast. We will see you on the beach. Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) takes his men behind enemy lines to find Private James Ryan, whose three brothers have been killed in combat. Surrounded by the brutal realties of war, while searching for Ryan, each man embarks upon a personal journey and discovers their own strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honor, decency and courage. Prof CJ brings a studied, historical perspective to the discussion that helps to dispel some of the propaganda about the “good war”. Join us next week as we flip the script with Shaheen to an alternative world where the ship carrying baby Superman lands in the Ukraine in “Superman: Red Son.” Show notes: http://www.actualanarchy.com/184 Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.com Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film. The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film. We publish at least once per week; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics) and have guests. SUBSCRIBE, RATE AND REVIEW ON APPLE PODCASTS (or iTUNES)
